I'm a beginner cellist and took my 2nd hand cello to be restrung. The staff were really helpful and friendly, explained everything clearly and took the time to restring and make a few repairs to my rather stubborn cello. They also advised me on bows, loaned me a nice one, and gave me a tutor's info to get me started. Fantastic experience and fairly priced considering their skill and knowledge. Highly recommend and I will definitely visit again. I'd best get practicing!
I visited the store 2 days ago and they were amazing. Very friendly. They have everything you need. I wanted to buy a bow for my violin I didn't brought my violin with me, they gave me a good one to test several bows and provide privacy so I can choose the right bow comfortably. And I did. I asked them if they ship anything internationally, they said with pleasure. I think I'll be their customer for ever. Thank you.
Super invested staff, who actually care about whatever is wrong with your instrument. Wonderful repairs too!
Had my bow fixed. Lovely service
Thank you very much indeed to Toby and his colleague for their help choosing an adult learner violin. They both shared their vast knowledge and sound advice very generously and it was a true joy to try out an impresive range of instruments. Their patience with a beginner made it a very enjoyable experience and I felt equipped to make a good choice thanks to the time and lovely setting offered by Turner Violins. Thanks again and best wishes to everyone in the shop.
Excellent service and professional friendly service. I am a novice to the violin but the service I received was very helpful and supportive. They have managed to get me set up with a tutor in 3 day's. Thanks.
Nice business that went out of their way to get the refurbishment done in time for a birthday present.
Took a 1/2 size 1970's Suzuki violin here, which I bought second hand elsewhere, for the experts to set up for my 10 year old daughter to learn on. A splendid professional job done for a fair price. The bridge is now properly set up etc. My daughter loves the violin. It plays very well now. She is preparing to be examined for her Grade 1. As she progresses through her grades, I will return to Turner's to buy an even better violin directly from them. A very polite, friendly and professional service.
A few weeks ago I took 2 bows to be rehaired and asked Turners to have a look at my violin to see if anything needed doing whilst I was there. The list was a bit longer than I expected. They were happy to loan me an instrument whilst the work was being done. Having picked my violin and bows back up today, I can say it was well worth the money. After a new fingerboard, pegs, soundpost...the lot... It sounds like a different violin. The tonal qualities I love about my instrument are there but it is so much more responsive, resonant and overall professional sounding. I've also sent pupils here for beginner instruments fairly recently, and they were very happy with the service. Highly recommended for players of any standard.
I drove my fiancée down, with advanced notice, to look at having her bow re-stringed and her violin given a general health once-over. Given ongoing Covid concerns, I thought it would be courteous to wait outside in the car. Whilst doing so, I noticed a lady repeatedly emerging and fiddling needlessly with the nearby bins, who had an air of the "nosy neighbour." After purchasing a new bow and some rosin, my fiancée checked with the wonderfully friendly gentlemen inside if we were OK to leave the car in situ while we gave our dogs a short leg stretch. We were informed that of course, this was fine. However, the hovering lady then approached us, and whilst frowning and without offering any form of greeting enquired brusquely "Are you visiting the shop?" I explained that yes, we were, and asked who she was. In response, the lady explained "I'm the owner." We politely informed her that permission had already been sought and granted, and she excused herself with the comment "Well, it's just we've got somebody coming." We both felt that, given the ample amount of parking space, the encounter was unnecessary, petty and discourteous, and it slightly soured the otherwise pleasant atmosphere of our visit and subsequent purchases. I might not have the visual appearance of a violin player, but the female "owner" would do well to remember that not all customers meet visual expectations, and that success and credibility are built on reputation, which has now been unfortunately damaged in this particular instance. I hope not to encounter such a lack of manners again, as my fiancée remarked the two gentlemen inside were exceptionally polite, respectful and informative. Consequently, one star deducted from an otherwise five star experience.
