Wow, the best cottage pie I've EVER had. American burger with pulled pork also outstanding. Called in on the off-chance. Meals came quickly and staff were lovely. Can't wait to come back.
Great pub. Nice atmosphere. Clientele friendly. Landlady lovely and friendly. The chilli is the best I've tasted for years with plenty of beef and just the right amount of heat for me personally.k Will definitely go back.
Couldn't rate this place higher! After spending over an hour on our feet searching for a restaurant along Weymouth Beachfront which was family friendly and reasonably priced we were exhausted and out of luck. We decided to drive back to our hotel and found this Absolute Gem on the way! The pub was beautiful, very tidy inside and out and the food looked delicious. It was very busy, we asked if we could be seated but they were fully booked. The lady who greeted us went out of her way to do some rearrangements and get us a table! I had my 9 year old son with me who was very hungry and tired after a long day of sightseeing, so I was beyond grateful that she went the extra mile to accommodate us! The food was absolutely amazing, the portions were very generous and all the staff were lovely, friendly and hospitable. Food and drink were served quickly and the prices were incredibly reasonable! I only wish we lived nearby as it would certainly be a regular family night spot! I'd strongly recommend this pub to anyone in search of a comfy seat, a friendly face and a delicious meal.
Valentines meal was gorgeous! We both had the 3 course meal, however the dessert portion we found to be huge and struggled to finish it but it just makes it even more worth the money we spent!
Family Sunday lunch for 8. Carvery was amazing. Quality of the food was fantastic and the amount was impressive. Booking essential as very popular. Ambiance was comfortably traditional country pub. Staff were polite and professional. We will be back soon.
Return visit after 3 years nothing much has changed I was going to say in need of an update but this is going to happen later this year, modernisation put back because of the shut down. Nice dog friendly pub bar area only the food is excellent and the staff very friendly and efficient. Looking forward to a return visit next June.
Went as a foursome on Friday evening. Lovely meal. Piping hot. Very friendly service and reasonably priced. If I had one complaint it would be not enough desserts left. Well worth going
Found this pub by accident & what a gem it is. I had a medium cooked steak my Wife had the sea bass with mash & veg & my daughter had the fish fingers. It was all well planned out your protection. You wait at the door & the very polite lady takes your name, number & temperature of all in your party. Thanks for a great experience.
Had a lovely meal here last night. Rump Steak with Lobster Mac n Cheese. My wife had Chicken Tikka Thali. Which looked really nice and she said that it tasted really good. Enough people in on a Monday night to create an atmosphere, service was good and all staff nice and friendly. What more could you want?
My wife and I went for a Saturday lunch with a guest. It was my first visit to the Turks Head and we were impressed by the ambience, friendly and prompt service and particularly by the quality of the excellent starters and mains; the home-made cottage pie in particular was very enjoyable. Sadly, the whole experience was marred at the 11th hour by the worst dessert I can recall. Advertised as a home-made apple and rhubarb crumble, what I actually received was warm stewed apple and rhubard in a cold bowl, with a topping of glutinous porridge. To me, a crumble crust should have a crunch, not a liquid sheen! I am only guessing that it may have been cooked from cold in a microwave rather than baked in an oven, or kept warm in a steamy environment. Whatever the background to this culinary disaster, I abandoned it after one mouthful and explained why when the young member of staff came to clear the table. Somewhat to my surprise, she didn't even offer an apology, let alone any compensatory reduction in the subsequent bill. I briefly considered demanding a refund at checkout but decided not to spoil the otherwise good experience for my wife and our guest for such a trivial amount. The pub was by now quite busy and such a demand would probably have resulted in an awkward delay. It was, however, a disappointing end to what could otherwise have been a 5 star experience.
