I was really impressed with the mixed starter, it had great variety and was delicious. The half duck however was incredibly dry and we had to keep asking for more sauce. No prawn crackers was disappointing too. Service was great and so was the atmosphere.
Really fresh. The pho noodles soup special was really flavourful and the taro bubble tea was the best I've had. I'd definitely recommend it if you want to have a nice relaxed dinner. The service and one portion is more than enough to fill you up and it's fairly cheap too. Most vegetarian items are also vegan and are tastyyyy according to my vegan friend
Bland terrible food. I love Vietnamese food. I'm not sure how this place gets good reviews. And the pictures are far too flattering. Almost all the dishes we had tasted the same. Bland! A veg dish we ordered comprised mainly of bean sprouts. The papaya mango salad didn't seem to have mango. I won't be going backFood: 1/5
The food was good, but the service was disappointing. They took 20-25 minutes to take our order, and only then because we got up and reminded them we were waiting, after a more recently arrived table had been served before us. They forgot several items of our order, and then included those items in the bill, and they then forgot about us at the end of the meal, having to again remind the staff we were waiting a long time for the bill. Very rarely considered not paying the service charge and very rarely post reviews, but we can’t recommend this place.
Not sure what has happened here but the quality has gone seriously downhill. Used to be a regular customer but just had a delivery meal and it was completely bland and flavourless. Also the prawn nems barely contained any meat. Shame as it used to be great.
Price - completely decent for Hackney and they take card unlike some others down mate street Location - easy to get to via bus, or a ten minute walk from Hackney central Atmosphere - quiet, chilled, private, warm Service - great, especially if you are keen for someone to bring food and leave you to chat! Food - fresh tasty ingredients, would recommend the seafood pho, which contains king prawns and squid
Just ordered takeaway on Deliveroo. The flavour featured no fresh herbs or aromatic additions. Summer rolls were plain relying on me dipping in Hoisin sauce which was provided. Prawn dish sauce tasted like a Vesta cook in sauce. Speedy delivery but disappointing flavours. Maybe more effort is made in the restaurant itself, but this takeaway wasn't wasn't cheap.
There are a lot of Vietnamese restaurants in Hackney, but this was always my favourite and my go-to Vietnamese place. My go-to is the bun bo hue delicious and good heat, plus you can add more fresh chilli if you want, but the pork spring rolls, pork belly and pho are good tooFood: 4/5
First let me say, this restaurant isn’t BYO anymore so we showed up with a clinking tote bag of wine which we had to take home again! We came early on a Tuesday and the place was quiet although it quickly filled up giving it a bit more atmosphere. The mural is pretty but there wasn’t am awful lot of atmosphere. We ordered the mixed sharing platter to start which had delicious summer rolls which I can sometimes find bland but these were full of plump juicy prawns, crispy fried duck rolls I didn’t think these were anything special, my partner loved them, crispy spicy, salty and sweet squid which was perfectly cooked and a really fresh yummy well dressed salad. Great starter but it wasn’t cheap! For mains we had the mushrooms in homemade oyster sauce and a duck curry. Both were absolutely full of flavour and couldn’t be faulted really well cooked and yummy. We didn’t order rice or noodles as we didn’t want lots of carbs and also they were quite expensive over six pounds for plain noodles- imagine the profit margin! This, coupled with the the slightly stand offish service, is the only thing that’s stopping me giving this place 5 stars.
Loved it here! The food was authentic and the staff were really friendly. We reserved a table thinking we might have to by then when we arrived it was quite empty so we could sit and have as many people as we wanted. This was on a Friday night but the relaxed atmosphere meant we could really relax, talk loudly and catch up with friends properly. I'd highly recommend visiting or takeaway. Bun cha is to die for as always!
