About

Hai Ha restaurant is a family run Vietnamese café specialising in providing the very best in authentic Vietnamese street food.

Story

Hai Ha first opened its doors in late 1997 between a family of three sisters. The sisters and their families were from different towns and villages in Vietnam and like most Vietnamese natives, they all shared a passion for their native cuisine.
Hai Ha started off as a simple café providing lunch and dinner of east Asian cuisines to the lively locals. It was one of the very first Vietnamese cafés to introduce the street foods that are still very much a part of the culture and makes up the livelihood of many families in Vietnam today.
Hai Ha aims to introduce its healthier living meals with its specialties such as Pho (flat rice noodle soup) with chicken & beef or a suitable alternative for vegetarians and vegans alike.
There is also Nem Cua Be, which is the traditional Vietnamese spring roll with pork and crabmeat, the delectable soft shell crabs in salt & chilli and Banh Tom Ho Tay to name but a few. Here at Hai Ha we have tried to capture the true tastes of what we have grown up with back home so that you have a variety of fresh and vibrant ingredients to incorporate with a balanced and healthy diet.
Our foods are handmade and fresh seasonal ingredients and herbs help us to envelope as much flavour and authenticity as if it were made in Vietnam.
Over the years we have expanded and have tried to keep up with the changing times and peoples food habits. We have always believed that if you eat well, you feel good and will always perform at your optimum. This is what we have been taught from birth. Our mothers have always cooked for us from scratch using the very basic of utensils but still the refreshing flavours are in each mouthful of Pho.

Low key. Traditional music. Looks like its family run. Delicious, flavor packed food with a wide menu.
Our last meal before Lockdown 2. And it was great!!! Loved particularly the prawn cake that I had for starter. The pho was very tasty
The pho is delicious and there is a totally vegan option with vegetables, tofu and vegetable stock. The portion size was great and the flavour was spot on. Also recommend the fresh lime juice though ask to reduce the sugar if you like
Terrible place. Not only did we wait for ages to be served, when we eventually did, it was just the worst Vietnamese food I tasted in my life. And trust me, I had a lot of Vietnamese food in my life.
A Favourite local Vietnamese restaurant in Hackney. Good selection of authentic meals. Very flavoursome. Service is quick, food is hot. Good size portion and very reasonably priced. Highly recommended.
I love this place: delicious and affordable food in Hackney. Be careful if you have food allergies and chech your food before eating it: I'm allergic to onions and after telling them my food came with plenty of spring onions! The waiter kindly brought me an onion-free plate.
Lovely neighbourhood Vietnamese food. They serve good morning glory and great green papaya salad, amongst other traditional vegan options. Nothing is exceptional, but it's reliably good on multiple visits and reasonably priced! We like it very much when in the area.
Pretty average Pho, cut chili was going black as it was not fresh. Got charged £9.35 for an £8.50 bowl of Pho and apparently 85p glass of tap water? Not worth going back, will try the other viet places nearby from now on.
