Great pub for a lazy lunch with the kids. OK, it looks very 60s traditional but the food is good, the bar has a good range and the staff friendly. It has a large beer garden with some large slides for the kids. Quiet but very pleasant. Highly recommended
Large country pub with extensive garden and kids play area. Decor is a bit tired but clean and comfortable.
Excellent as always. Visited today for Father's Day. Great quality home cooked food, lovely atmosphere and staff are so friendly. Can't beat the Carvery and the kids meals are such good value too. Our daughter loves the play area and seeing the animals, a definite added bonus. Highly recommend.
Great food, great price, friendly staff. If you are.looking for a Sunday roast around the area, this is the place to go, the beef especially is amazing! Only downside is that the toilet facilities are Freezing cold and changing a baby in there wasn't much fun.
Had a family celebration and chose to eat at Travellers Friend because we have gone there before for celebrations because The Sunday Roasts are always 1st Class. There's always a selection of meats and great selection of vegetables. Desserts and Puds good too. Always greeted with warm welcome. Staff are friendly. The place is spotless. Would recommend to everyone.
Great place to eat, great service, great people. The above review was posted a year ago go but but I have just seen a Post from a Mr Osbourne regarding a birthday party he attended on Sunday. I can only think that this party was not at the Travellers Friend as I was there on Sunday as I am every Sunday for a carvery and as usual it was very busy and the food was great as were the staff . I was slightly confused as there is NO village hall attached to the pub and the comment about having a gate on the play area very amusing as when I bring my grandchildren here as I have done for the past 8 years I always thought it was the parents and grandparents duty to watch their children as stated on the notice on the wall in the play area this reads " CHILDREN USING THIS EQUIPMENT DO SO AT THEIR OWN RISK. PARENTS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR CHILDRENS SAFETY" So I can only assume you were not at the same pub that I was.
Excellent meal. Quality was superb as was the quantity. The gentleman at the bar Nobby was professional, friendly and kept us informed of when the meal would be with us. Very classic menu, just what we all wanted. Will definitely go back if up that way. Well done.
Never liked this place. However came here for a birthday party and not been for something like 7 years so was optimistic. Still run down, staff not very friendly and no atmosphere. You didn't feel welcome and it felt like you're intruding in to someone's local pub. It just doesn't have any character other than run down and outdated. Being a Sunday you'd expect it to be fairly busy for Sunday lunch but it was basically empty with only a few people drinking. Prices for drinks were also very expensive; £7 for two lemonade's and the minimum charge for card payments is £10. Surprised at that as we thought that went out with the dark ages! The outside space is good though and it has a great play area for kids and has a lot of parking area so ideal for big groups. It shares it with the village hall which is attached. Would be nice to see a secure gate for the outside area to stop the little ones running into the carpark.
Sunday dinner was average. Meat was ok but lacked a variety in veg and thebyorshires were chewy. Wanted table at 4 bit was told 3 was final orders so table booked for 3. Wasn't told they actually close at 3, so.....a empty quiet put with staff cleaning up waiting to leave didnt really make my family and friend feel welcome.
Good old fashioned pub grub this doesn't pretend to be a gastropub! at fair prices that reflects the slightly old fashioned feel of the place. Great garden area with brilliant play area for children, and huge amounts of parking space.
