Fairly important station between Reading and Newbury with car parking being cheaper than Theale! Part time ticket office. There is a footbridge but no lifts!
Absolutely SHOCKING control of the barriers, make you sit there for 8-10 minutes and NO TRAIN goes past, then the barrier goes back up, IF THE TRAIN IS DELAYED FOR 10 minutes LET CARS GO THROUGH FOR ANOTHER 10 MINUTES BEFORE LOWERING THE BARRIERS… ABSOLUTELY SHOCKING The US offered to build a bridge over the station for cars and west berks said no, PATHETIC
I don’t get why you have to wait for 5 minutes before a train actually goes past. I was waiting 20 mins the other day and 5 trains went past… it’s ridiculous! You made me late getting back for my son last wk and the wk before. The que of traffic goes all the way up so there’s no way of turning round and you can be there for over half an hour as the lights change again before you manage to get over. It seriously needs looking into cuz it effects a lot of people and it’s totally unnecessary
Had a quirey about a train going to Gatwick but the ticket sales man said it's not his responsibility and couldn't have been less interested in helping he just wanted my money. My quirey was ...There's a train leaving platform 5 at 1528 in Reading but my app says it stops at redhill so i have to change train but also states it carries on through to Gatwick station. So do I need to get off or not ?. Not great service
Small station with a small ticket office. Helpful staff if you don’t know what ticket you really need. Also a machine outside for the more seasoned travellers or if the ticket office is closed. Each platform has a small amount of seating with one shelter, although you can sit in the ticket office too. There are also bike lock boxes as well on the East bound platform.

A small railway station on the route between Reading and Newbury. GWR services go through this station.
Found the customer assistant behind the counter very unhelpful, I was obviously interrupting the time she was spending on her mobile phone . Not a good ambassador for gwr
Haven't been to the station itself. But we have been standing at the train crossing for 30 mins now. Could be more.
