As an American visiting the U.K. I implore others to go to the Tower of London. The history completely surrounds and envelops you. It's an experience I will never forget. Even to see the Crown Jewels was breathtaking! I loved every moment we spent there. All of the lovely people who work there and share the stories and history every single day are to be commended!
Great visit with the kids. Had a special for Halloween which made it even more fun. No waiting times when we arrived in the morning. Highlights were the Crown Jewels and the white tower. Great guide book as well and lots of fun things in the shop. Cafe was good as well and even had gluten free options. Overall great day out for the whole family.
Lovely place to visit. Love white tower exhibition with all the Armour. Had a question about origin of giving middle finger at the bow exhibit to one staff. And staff was so friendly that he not only confirmed the story to my unbelieving daughter, but gave us an enthusiastic historical rundown of Britain since. Was not too exited about crown jewels exhibit. But that is most likely because all the pieces are rather well known. Impressed by the gold/gilded objects though.
Visited Tower of London for The Ceremony of the Keys. An interesting tour, led by one of the Beefeaters - lots of blood and gore thrown in the stories for good measure! Explained all about the Ceremony and traditions behind it. Only downside was there were a lot of people there, and if you are not that tall, then you don't get a good view of what was happening - you can hear it, but not see it.
Went yesterday at the special offer of £1.00 each well worth the money even if you are paying the full £35.00. We got a Tour of the Tudor Chapel and was told all history that happened in the Chapel. You actually go inside and sit for a 30 minute guide. Our Yeoman Warden guide was Laurence, such a knowledgeable fun chap too have as our tour guide. We then went into see The Crown Jewels which is all included in the price of a ticket. We met Anna who was very informative about the artifact's we was looking at. Was a pleasure meeting Anna as she told us she was from Spain and has worked at The Tower for 22 years. All the staff that we met yesterday were pleasant informative and went out of their way too help you. There is no time limit in which you have to stick too whilst in The Tower. There are so many buildings and walkways to get around and loads of exhibitions. There are many gift shops and cafes and a restaurant in the grounds and good prices too. We spent 4 hours inside the place is like a small town in itself so spacious with no over crowding of people. Well worth a day out and will definitely go back in the summer.
Just fantastic. Spent like 4 hours just walking around with the audio guide highly recommended, even in the pouring rain. Such amazing history. Yeomen were lovely and helpful when lost.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedYes
Great place to visit. If you buy a Historic Royal Palaces pass you get entry to here & other places. It is bigger than I expected - not just the tower - a large complex within the walls. Interesting museum. You can see the crown jewels. Staff were very helpful & happy to chat. Think I was lucky as relatively quite that day. Ravens remain living there. Fascinating history about the animals that once lived there, prisoners & monarchs.
Visited the Tower of London during poppy weekend where there were videos displayed on the various walls of the castle, absolutely fantastic. I believe it's on for 11 days so if anyone is thinking of going it's well worth a visit. Also included a visit around the Crown Jewels.Visited onWeekendWait timeUp to 10 minReservation recommendedYes
The last time I visited the Tower of London was over 20 years prior. I didn't remember much other than waiting in line for what felt like ages to see the crown jewels. Now as an adult, my experience was very different. I started my visit with a tour presented by a very good humoured Yeoman Warder. He set the tone for the rest of my visit. I then picked up my audio guide recommended and proceeded to visit the Traitor's Gate and all towers on the battlement. I circled back to the White Tower and additional buildings that were available. As someone who enjoys history, the Tower and its grounds are very rich in it. I was impressed by how well preserved all structures were. I loved the stories and depiction of life in the audio guide as I took in the sights. Overall, I would visit again. As an adult I enjoyed the experience much more than as a young person. Thinking about my own child, I don't know that she would understand or appreciate much of the history until much older. Teens and above may be better suited to enjoy the story of the Tower.
The Tower of London is a must-visit destination for anyone interested in history, culture, and heritage. The experience is both fascinating and enriching, offering a glimpse into centuries of British history. The ticket price for adults, at £34, might feel a bit steep, but the value you get from exploring this iconic landmark makes it worth every penny. From the Crown Jewels to the Yeoman Warders’ tours, every corner of the Tower tells a story. It’s a place where history comes to life and leaves you with unforgettable memories.
