I've done two workshops here: Beginners and Make a dress in a day workshops. Both were great. You get shown what to do small steps then go practice yourself. Tutor helps when you get stuck. So that's what you want really, learn, practice, problem solve with help on the spot. Photos are from the dress I made in a day, which isn't bad for a beginner I think! There's a variety of classes to choose from. As soon as this pandemic has stopped making me poor, I'll be back for more workshops. And from what I can see from their latest photos, they've rearranged the studio to make it socially distant which is great. And for those that are complaining about the cancellations/rebooking - to be fair, the T&Cs are pretty clear, so just don't cancel last minute and be on time and leave plenty of time for the journey beauty salons have the same policies, so it's not unreasonable. It's a small business so be supportive and remember it costs them too.  Bottom line - I enjoyed, found it useful and recommend to others.

I attended a 2-hour sewing course for beginners, ran by Craig. Craig is a very knowledgeable and expert teacher. He explained the main functions of a sewing machine winding bobbin, threading , etc: he also shared troubleshooting strategies and top tips to quickly solve and avoid typical beginners' mistakes that have discouraged me for a long time. The workshop also comprised practical sessions to practice different stitches and sew different patterns. We gave us the fabric to make a potholder. I will surely attend the "Make a Dress in a Day" workshop.  Highly recommended even for very  beginners!

This is the third course I've done at The Fashion Box previously completed beginners intro and dress in a day. The jumpsuit course was great, as we were taken through the whole process from laying our pattern and cutting out pieces, creating two different types of pockets, sewing seams and inserting zips. It was good to chose and use our own fabric, so I've made something I'll definitely wear. Craig was our tutor for the day and he's great at demonstrating and explaining things. Even as a beginner I feel capable now to try this pattern again in a different fabric on my own. I'll definitely be booking on more courses!

The best sewing workshop/ lesson ever. Craig he is very approachable charismatic person, teach and explain very well. I have attend a few of his workshops and they are always Top Classes. It's amazing I always end up with the final product/ project which I feel very proud but the credits go for Craig who is very patient to teach and show us how to get to be done Craig knows  what he's is doing Top professional.I would strongly recommend any one who is interested in learning how to sew or who just a new hobby!

Craig is a great teacher. I have attended several 1-1 sessions over the past two years and Craig is always very helpful, informative and knowledgable when it comes to sewing. With Craigs help i have now been able to launch my own menswear brand and design well-made tailored garments. If you want to learn new sewing techniques, how to make a specific garment or develop better sewing skills beginner to intermediate I would certainly recommend booking a few sessions with Craig or joining one of the group sessions!

I recently did the Dress in a Day Saturday workshop with sewing tutor Craig at Fashion Box and recommend it highly. Craig is a fantastic teacher - clearly explaining the steps and then allowing us to get on with trying them, but very much there to help if needed. He is very knowledgeable about all areas of the craft - sewing, pattern cutting, sewing machines, pattern design and the industry/commercial side of things, which I found fascinating. We made a successful dress in around 6 hours, which I was very pleased with. Will hopefully be back soon. Thank you Craig!

I’ve now attended 3 classes at Fashion Box, and attended a private lesson as part of a birthday gift for my mother. Craig is super nice, so patient and explains everything really well.  I have ADHD and often get distracted by what others are doing, or I don’t listen properly but he always takes the time to show something again if I’ve lost the plot. He also helps out if you’ve made a mistake and is very knowledgeable about different fabrics and styles.  Craig has helped me copy shorts and a dress so that I can make a version myself. I also took his Hawaiian shirt and sweatshirt classes and learnt a lot there too.

Went to the beginners class and really enjoyed myself - but booked in the "Make a Dress in a Day" class and turns out it had been cancelled. Didn't find out until I arrived with the other attendees who weren't told. The company has since closed and I have not been given a refund after contacting Craig.

This place is amazing! Craig is a great teacher, I always leave his classes feeling super proud of what I've just created. He takes the time to answer all of your questions and gives you little hints on how to better your skills, the best places to buy fabric as well as tips on who will win The Great British Sewing Bee  Can't wait to sign up to my next course!
