Being asked to leave an empty as they "need the tables back" after 40 minutes of arriving was very disappointing and doesn't even deserve the star I give this visit. Travelling down to Luton from Nottingham for a family day out we decided to stop off for some food on the way. Arrived at 10:50 and breakfast was still being served so we ordered 5 with drinks. 11:30 was asked if we wanted to finish or more drinks we could sit outside but we had to leave to make way as they get busy and needed the table Pictures show an almost empty restaurant and not one person arriving Just felt like we were not welcome at this location as we never have this at our local Toby Carvery. Embarrassing for me as I'd recommended this place as a location to eat Was more in shock at being asked to leave I should of asked to see the manager to resolve there and then. I know for next time to choose a more welcoming location
All the service staff were friendly, efficient and could not help us enough. The meat came in fresh from the kitchen and was delicious. Some of the vegetables had become a little dry and needed refreshing and there were no carrots left. However we thoroughly enjoyed our meals and I was able to stick to my slimming world diet as your products are included in their website, so I was able enjoy the meal guilt free! Thanks to the staff for making our experience so enjoyable.
Initial customer service was not very friendly and we got ignored at the door, however once shown to our seats Sophie was our waitress and she was lovely. Super helpful and friendly. Food was good too and chef was friendly also. Sadly no sticky toffee pudding for dessert though! All in a all a decent Sunday roast.
We haven't been here for many years so decided to give it a try as we had always had a pleasant experience however this time was different. The staff that served us had a great attitude and I found them very pleasant unfortunately the food let this visit down. The meat was very fatty, The carrots were very hard and I didn't find the choice of vegetables very appealing and unfortunately most of the "roasted" parsnips were very over cooked and black. I think if they had a better selection of vegetables and perhaps they were cooked better then we would have had a much better experience.
Carvery nice and fresh on a Sunday as expected however shocking service. My mother had a dangerously wobbly chair they wouldn't sort & when we returned from the carvery the 'pints' we were served were an absolute joke. Disappointing and trying to get away with 3/4 pints.
The staff were friendly and helpful. That’s where my positive feedback ends. A family party was booked for over 20 people. Right from the start I was concerned. When trying to book, no one would answer the phone. Messages were never answered. Had to drive nearly an hour to book and pay deposit so the table was secured for the day we wanted. Menu choices were written in a plain price of paper. The table was booked for 18.30 and despite family members waiting over 20 minutes to be seated, this restaurant had the audacity to message me to say we had 5 minutes to claim our table at 1835. The place was pretty much empty and staff were ignoring people looking for assistance. The starters were wrong. Some of us were waiting over 30 minutes for our starters. Bread was dry after being in the microwave, other elements were flavourless and pretty much inedible. Carvery was dry or under cooked. Xmas pudding was like mush and in edible. We were all on separate tables. No effort made to make the tables look festive or to place all family members together. The place was cold. We were sat eating in our coats. Chances of going back are nonexistent. A very rare family get together was ruined.
Although we had an hours wait for a table I recommend booking. The food was certainly worth waiting for. That was the best carvery I've had in years, if not ever. All round delicious, the potato and leek was scrumptious and I take my hat off to your gravy.
Turkey and gammon was tasty, as were the roast potatoes but unfortunately the peas, carrots and sprouts were cold. Mint sauce watered down too much. Jo, the lady who looked after us, was fantastic. Happy, cheerful, helpful. Jo is definitely an asset to the company. Excellent service. Parking: Plenty of parking. More parking hid round the side of building so if you don't know it's there, you'll miss it. If, like me, you're a bit wobbly on your feet, mind the road outside the front. Slightly uneven which I'm sure they are aware of as it's a health and safety issue on private road.
Took a while to be seated. No one on reception. When we got seated took a while for someone to come over to take our order. The restaurant was quiet so no excuse. Staff just stood around. The food wasn’t very warm E.g gravy and the Yorkshire puddings which are normally nice tasted like dough today. Other people were having to go and find staff because they weren’t being attentive. Not a good experience today.
A group of five of us turned up without booking. Hadn't expected place to be busy at 12 mid week. Staff asked if we minded eating in the bar area as everywhere else was booked. We were more than happy to be seated there and staff really efficient and helpful. Food really reasonably priced and great choice of veg. Only criticism would be food could have been a bit warmer. Would definitly go again but would book in advance as it does get busy.
