Dramatically situated above the river Exe Tiverton Castle is ideally placed for not only visiting Tiverton but also exploring Devon and Somerset. Our apartment at the top of the turret (not for the faint-hearted!) had splendid views and was charming; comfortably furnished and well equipped. Our hosts Alison & Angus were very friendly and hospitable. A traditional Devon cream tea with home made scones was set out to greet us and our free tour of the castle was fascinating. All this and a beautiful garden too make it a very special place to stay.

Rarely open apparently it's a tourist attraction

Some of the castle is private residence some ruins left from the various sieges a good collection of medieval armour small garden

Small museum run by limited staff (although very friendly and knowledgeable ).   This is a private museum so is a bit pricey for what you get to see. The history if the place is very interesting. If you have a medium sized car or bigger entering under the gatehouse may be a challenge.
