Great for what it is, a no frills Indian place. I sauntered in my last night in Edinburgh with only 7 pounds left in my pocket. Got the lamb curry for 4.75 and rice. Good, filling meal. Wish I had found this place sooner. The interior leaves something to be desired but the food is good and cheap.
Hidden gem. This place is 100% great. Really cheap but very delicious food cooked how it should be. Pots of curry bubbling right on front if you when you walk in. Fresh. Yum.
Cheapest good meal you'll find in the neighborhood. A truly significant amount of food for 5-6 pounds. The people who work there have always been very, very nice. They also have a student/lunch special that's £4.50 for chicken curry. Fantastic prices, great service, and amazing food. Local gem.
Great place for authentic Indian/Pakistani food! The restaurant does not look like much from the outside, and maybe could do with a refurbishment, but their food is perfect. I've been going there for about three years, and have never been disappointed. I recommend getting their Dal together with their delicious Naan bread! Especially the coconut naan is second to none. The two guys running the place are always very nice and will give you recommendations if you unsure of what you want.
We went here for a team lunch, mixed grills were absolutely amazing, the lamb karai and nans were just fabulous. The prices were excellent, almost half the price of the bigger places like Kebabish. Service was quick and the staff very pleasant and the food was so fresh. It is a small place and not much to look at, but they do home style cooking and you wont forget the great food.
This was my first and will be last visit. Watery curries with no taste and reheated food which is not fresh. As they say you get what you pay for but I think we didn't even get the minimum quality we expected for our price. It didn't had to be great but it wasn't even decent enough. I don't understand how they got so many good reviews. Customer service is not best but can be ignored if the food is nice. Prices are very reasonable but the quality and taste is poorer than the price we paid for it. For same price you can walk down a bit to Nicholson Street and get better quality.
One of Edinburgh's hidden gems. Great priced food with large portion sizes! Freshly prepared as well.. Okay the decor us a bit blah and 1980s but for cheap very decent food it's a no brainer!
Great pakoras and curries from Tikka Mahal - they don't say much and mainly watch foreign TV shows on the television by the door, but they let the cooking do the talking. It's fresh, it's fast and it's cheap. Give it a go!!!
Tikka Mahal has lovely staff and food at a good price. The atmosphere is very relaxed, cozy, with the tv always on in the background. I always come when I need some comfort food. Thank you!
Kebabs in Edinburgh compared to London are abysmal. They're typically expensive with no spice or flavour. Not this place. I only wish it wasn't on the my route back from the gym. By far the best place I've been to in Edinburgh.
