My mother Dorothy stayed at this wonderful home for a number of weeks. The staff are all dedicated and truly care for the residents. This included all the carers, who are lovely and office staff. I must mention Carl in particular who was extremely helpful during a very stressful situation! The home has a lovely atmosphere, is clean and also provides lovely home cooked food. My mum was staying here for reablement and was seen regularly by the Physio and the Doctor. She truly enjoyed her time there and as a family, we were very happy knowing that she was safe and enjoyed her stay. Do not overlook this home, it has a lot to offer. Many of the staff have worked there for many years, which says a lot about the place. I cannot recommend Thornton House highly enough and if my mum had to go back into to a care home, she and her family would want her to return to Thornton House.
After 8 weeks at Thornton House I finally got home being a different person than when I was discharged from hospital. I was barely mobile at first and very underweight. Due to the excellent home cooked food and great care from the care staff, ancillary staff, physios and occupational health I have put on over 10kg and become more mobile and independent. I can’t thank them all enough for getting me to this point.
Excellent care for my Mum, which was very reassuring as we live four hours away & couldn’t visit due to Covid regs.The care team initiated GP medication reviewwhich meant Mum wasn’t sleeping all day, ordered various aids to help Mumairflow mattress, sack barrow etc, encouraged mobility, got Mum eating & drinking & cared for her in a professional caring manner. They have a mobile phone which enabled me to speak to Mum on a daily basis & when I asked Mum about her care she said “they are really looking after me, I’m happy here one hundred percent”. So Thankyou to all the team for doing a great job, special thanks to Bevsenior carerfor the chats & reassuring me regarding Mum.x
They turned my father into a zombie and lied to us about his condition. He went in for rehabilitation after a fall but each time we saw him he had gone further down hill and was more vacant. The first time we saw him he told us they were ignoring his buzzer when he needed the toilet, the staff told us he was incontinent. The second time we saw him, he was like a dribbling zombie and couldn't talk to us at all. This was his birthday and staff didn't even help him open the cards and presents that we had to leave with them for him. This was during the pandemic, so we were not allowed in, we could only see him through the window. Shortly after that, he developed pneumonia and was moved to Blackpool Victoria, where he became as bright as a button again. Hospital staff also confirmed that he was not incontinent at all. When we collected his belongings, all his cards and presents were still unopened. If you love your relatives, avoid this place.
Excellent stay at Thornton House. Food plentiful and very good. Caring and helpful staff. From Bea x
