Fabulous restaurant. Lovely atmosphere. friendly, helpfully staff. Very welcoming and my dog loved them. Food was delicious! Great amount and quality, very much worth the money. Even my dog got some free sausages and a bowl of whipped cream. 10/10 will definitely come back. Highly recommended. Vegetarian options: I didn't have any vegetarian meals but saw plenty of variety on the menu. Dietary restrictions: They actively ask you for any dietary needs or allergies and allocated evey request.
Booked for 6 for my mother's 80th. Treated so well and the staff so accommodating and welcoming. Food delicious and allowed us to bring our own cake and table decorations. So good to see the place busy with other happy customers too. Waitresses very polite and attentive. We'll definitely be back and definitely be recommending this place to others. It's a gem of a place!
We booked to celebrate my birthday last Sunday at noon. When booking my husband understood we would have a 3 hour slot, on arrival the welcome was "you will need to be out by 2.30" Although some family members were late due to travelling a distance we said we would order food and they would happily slot in on arrival, the delay in service meant it was 2pm before we were able to have our mains/carvery. We didn't feel able to have dessert due to the time and then I was asked if I still wanted my birthday cake! In the end tables were cleared around us as we gathered our things. I haven't given anything a great score mainly due to the total lack of atmosphere. We have celebrated many special birthdays here but have no desire to return. I must say the young staff were all very pleasant but are not in any position to be able to ensure that a larger party is adequately cared for.
Great village pub serving excellent food and beers, especially with the Christmas menu. Vegetarian options: There were vegetarian and vegan options on the Xmas menu. Parking: Just outside the pub.
Had the Sunday carvery, it was excellent. £14 only, one of the best value around. Meat slices were generous, Yorkshire was fine, and the potatoes and vegetables were tasty. You can add a dessert or starter for £4.50. Recommended that you book. Some parking at pub, but street parking to side and front if car park full.Food: 5/5
Rude waitress! After a hard day me and partner went for a carvery. We weren't sure of how to order and after we were seated and our drinks order taken, we went to get our food. Once I returned to the table the waitress older lady with short grey hair and glasses shouted at me that I hadn't ordered my carvery in front of a room full of people. She then snatched the paper menu off the table and barged past me. I haven't been spoken to so rudely by anyone like that before in my adult life. I was completely humiliated and to make things worse my partner then heard the lady talking negatively about me to other staff. It was completely unnecessary and frankly a quite mean way to overreact to an honest mistake. I did tell her on our way out but I'm sure it probably fell on deaf ears. The man behind the bar was friendly and apologised to us as he could see I was visibly upset. We were in there a total of 20 minutes and will never go back, and unless they change the way this lady interacts with customers - I don't advise anyone else goes either. Awful end to an already bad day .
What a lovely pub, food was hot and enjoyable. I like the little touches of games you can play and decor inside. It has an easy accessible car park at the back.Food: 5/5
I went to the Thornhill Arms last night 14th Feb with my partner for our Valentines meal. I booked our table using the Open Table website so I wasn't aware that there was a Valentines set menu, which was £45pp not including drinks. I wasn't really expecting to spend that much on our meal but when I got there and realised what had happened, I just accepted that we were going to have to have this set meal - I didn't mind too much because I had heard such great things about the food there. We got sat by our waitress in a room at the back of the restaurant on our own, which caused quite an awkward atmosphere. We felt like we couldn't talk openly on our date night because the staff could hear every word we were saying. The bar where the staff were working was opposite our table and it was just really awkward. We would have preferred for there to be more people sat around us, which we assumed there would be at 7:30pm on Valentines night! As mentioned, our table was booked for 7:30pm and we ended up leaving at 10pm... This was purely because of how long the food took to get to us! There were 4 courses in total, and there was an unnecessarily large amount of time between each one. By the end, we were so tired and fed up of sitting in the dead quiet room that we didn't even have our last course. The food was okay, nothing exceptional. My partner had the camembert starter, which came with stale bread and cheese that looked shop bought Aldi/Lidl. He had the steak for his main, which he asked to be cooked medium rare but it came out as well done. He asked for it to be sent back and they gave him a new one, which tasted a lot better. However, because the meal had to be taken back, I was sat there eating my pasta on my own. In the end, my partner was so hungry, I felt like I had to give him the rest of my pasta just so he had something to eat. We had a glass of wine each which bought the total up to £94, but we rounded it up to £100 because there was a lovely waitress. Neither of us felt like our meal was worth £100 and we left the restaurant feeling quite annoyed that we had spent so much money on a meal that we could have definitely made at home. Overall, I was extremely disappointed in the whole experience, and I will not be booking at the Thornhill Arms again.
Everything was very good. They easily catered for Gluten Free requirements. The staff were friendly & efficient. Vegetarian options: They probably cater for such diets but we don't ask for them. Kid-friendliness: They cater for families with children Parking: They have a car park but it can't accommodate many vehicles. The village is small & compact so that at very busy times parking can be troublesome. This is true for quite a few such establishments in this area of Northamptonshire. Wheelchair accessibility: Have not investigated this so call them before arriving may be the best option. Dietary restrictions: Gluten Free available. Inform the serving staff of any special requirements.
Taken for Mothers Day dinner. A very nice roast with plenty of choice of four meats, also available meatless roast for those who prefer not to eat meat. Good selection of deserts. Friendly staff.Food: 4/5
