Thomas McMullan Funeral Services is based at the Valley Lodge Funeral Home in Borough Road Birkenhead.
We are a family run business owned locally by the McMullan Family. The day to day running of the business is carried out by Tom McMullan and his wife Christine.
In a changing world where many businesses have been swallowed up by large corporations the McMullan family still offer a service with traditional values within the profession based on the principle that in providing a service for bereaved families, funeral directors must accept responsibility for the choices made by families at their most vulnerable time.
Choice is important, there should be no regrets, but when the burden of cost for one of those choices falls on the bereaved, the accountability and sense of responsibility of your advisor is no less important.
Losing someone you love is one of the hardest things in the world. You will need the support and care of friends and family throughout this difficult time.

Our family was introduced to the funeral service by John James McMullan 1925-1980 father of the present principle he became a qualified member of the British Institute of Embalmers in 1959 and served for two years as North West Division Chairman of the Institute in the late 1970s, he devoted a great deal of his time encouraging education within the profession through the divisions education committee, and he also taught students who went on to receive the M.B.I.E qualification.
The Service was carried on by John McMullan Jnr M.B.I.E , Tom McMullan M.B.I.E. and Christine McMullan who took over the Valley Lodge formerly a doctors residence and surgery which was built in 1860 by Dublin born architect William A Richardson the Borough Surveyor and we have tried to transform the building into one of the most outstanding Funeral Homes on the Wirral, whilst still retaining its original character.
