Ate an anniversary dinner here and it was fantastic - the new menu is excellent, and the food was unpretentious and perfectly executed. Particular highlight was the warm banana bread dessert with rum caramel and coconut sorbet - delicious! Great service as well and a lively and bustling atmosphere - highly recommend.Food: 5/5
Service was exceptional, very friendly and attentive. And the food was absolutely fantastic, definitely worth the price it was delicious and nice big portions. Good range of food on the menu and nice atmosphere. Would absolutely recommend!! Dietary restrictions: They asked about if we had any before we ordered, definitely accommodating.
This is one of my most favourite pubs in Sheffield. Friendly staff and good drinks. We came in for a Sunday roast dinner and it was one of the best roasts I’ve had in a while! The apple and rhubarb crumble was also delicious. Vegetarian options: Vegetarian roast dinner
Dropped in for a bit of Sunday lunch. Was steadily busy but seemed to have lots of seats free. Ordered from a set menu 2 courses for £20, or 3 for £25. Friend is a gluten free vegetarian and they were able to accommodate with their menu. Food was tasty, beef was nice but was covering the veg below, like the tats, leeks and broccoli. The food comes with gravy already poured over it, this also meant the waiter had his thumb in my gravy when it was delivered. Not the waiters fault, but it should be served in a jug as standard. Toddler had a mini roast, the beef there tasted garlicky which ours didnt. i was jealous! Make sure to download the True North app for discounts. The kitchen did offer us a free brownie, i think as they had overstock, which was lovely and a nice gesture and capped off a lovely afternoon. Staff were friendly and interacted with our toddler nicely. Only marked down as the plating/gravy could have been better. Perhaps offering to put in a jug as a standard.
This place changes lives. The beer selection is something created by the old god and the new. The food seems to be curated by angels. The interior is quaint but with a modern twist and the music was the greatest selection I've heard inside. The staff are all beautiful and caring, they made my visit here undeniably the best experience I've had since 1988!
This is a nice light pub with a sunny beer garden to the rear. I was impressed as they also made a great alternative milk decaf cappuccino, which is rare for a pub. In a nice village called Broomhill - which is also popular with university students. Staff friendly & helpful.Food: 4/5
Used to be one of the best pubs in Sheffield which somehow the new owners have managed to ruin through a carefully planned combination of butchering the layout, a tacky sounding quiz and an American Diner style menu although can’t comment on the actual food as we didn’t eat there.Service: 3/5
Worth another visit! We, a family of three, went there for lunch on a Saturday. Arrived just after 1200, it was very quiet. It was busy went we left. The food was good, portions decent. Perhaps a bit pricey. £45 for lunch plus drinks. The house burger was very tasty and well cooked, the fries very good, the bacon needed to be either trimmed better or cooked more to melt the fat. The fish and chips went down well too, fish being fantastic, chips ok. Children menu has decent options.
Staff couldn't be more helpful. Nice clean pub/restaurant. Food excellent. I had the best steak pie ever! Happy to recommend.Food: 5/5
Terrible meal here yesterday evening. We bought a visitor from overseas here to enjoy a traditional pub experience and couldn't be more disappointed. The staff were friendly but disinterested. The food was awful, burnt fish and chips! Burnt onion rings! Cold peas! Then the pub quiz which was advertised online as starting at 9 began just after 8, so we attempted to eat our unpleasant meal to the sound of the booming PA. I asked the barman if I could leave some feedback as we paid our £90 bill and he suggested I'd be better scanning the qr code on the receipt, completely disinterested in our experience. We used to enjoy The York for the good food and the friendly efficient staff. Really sad to see what it has apparently become. *Edit After 2 months I'm very surprised to find that the establishment hasn't at least acknowledged this review. Sums up what The York seems to have become...
