The Wild Boar

About

Recently refurbished to a very high standard we serve food & drink throughout the week, show the best of live sports and with live DJs at the weekend, pub quiz on a Sunday and Live Acoustic Showcase on Mondays you're in for a Piggin' good time!!!

Story

The story goes that the long main room of The Wild Boar, with its magnificent arched ceiling, used to belong to a painter and decorator whose apprentices would hone their skills on the elaborate cornicing. True or not, it's certainly an impressive ceiling that adds a touch of class to this popular bar, one that's as much a hit with mothers and pushchairs by day as it is with a party-going crowd at night. Busy seven days a week, it's the kind of place where it's easy to settle down and get comfy with a Belhaven Best, whether it's in the grand ground-floor room or the cosy downstairs space with its low lighting, cushioned couches and booth seating where the kids can tune into CBeebies on individual televisions while you enjoy your meal.

Great service & atmosphere, happy waiting & bar staff, well priced meals and delicious too. I can highly recommend this place. Oh, and it's well located in the city centre too.
Fantastic meal. Callum, our server, was a great laugh and made us feel so welcome. Food was delicious & despite covid rules there was a nice atmosphere. Ana was also very friendly.
Really enjoyable and comfortable pub. Friendly and pleasant staff. The food was exceptionally good pub type fayre... Was good enough to make several visits during our stay. Good value for what you get. Highly recommended.
Stopped in for coffee and we had to try the Chocolate Fudge Cake and Afternoon Tea Cheesecake. Both were lovely, great service and felt very safe, thanks to all at the Boar!
Didn't have a bad experience but I'll edit my review to explain. Wish there was a draught beer a bit different to most something German or Czech. Not Warsteiner though.
It never disappoints with friendly staff and great food.
Lovely atmosphere, handy stop off in centre of town. Serves Brewdog Punk on tap and excellent table service from the staff.
