About

Our vision for the pub is simple. Good, seasonal food, cooked to a high standard and enjoyed in relaxed surroundings.

Story

We welcome you to The White Swan located in the picturesque Yorkshire village of Wighil. Oozing charm and character The White Swan has large open fires, a two cosy bar areas and two larger dining rooms with a large beer garden that catches the sun throughout the day.

We believe Yorkshire has the best produce available and we have built the menu at The White Swan on using the best local ingredients from farms, suppliers and producers close to Wighill. We are also champions of Yorkshire ale and source all of our cask ales from breweries within a 25 mile radius. This is joined by a selection of fine wines, beers and lagers from around the world and a large selection of spirits.

A lovely country pub tucked away in a peaceful area just outside Tadcaster. Food was very tasty. One slight issue was my burger really could have done with a bigger plate! The staff were quick to bring extra napkins when they saw my fingers covered in the barbecue sauce!
Absolutely gorgeous food in a lovely little village Tried the Hot Beef Slices sandwich and it was to die for! With chocolate cheesecake for dessert Will definitely be stopping by again if we pass through
Really enjoyed the food and atmosphere at the pub. Had the White Swan pie dont worry it is steak not swan. Tasty dessert too. Decent pint of beer as well. All good, will return. Returned December 2022 for Xmas lunch menu. Delicious, hot, good quality meal. 3 courses thoroughly enjoyed. Nice pint of Atlantic too. Party of 8 people... all clean plates, great service.
Called in on a Saturday for lunch and was met with a warm welcome by owner and staff. The three of us took a while to decide what to have from the good selection of dishes from the menu , eventually all decided to have a light ciabatta sandwiches lunch or so we thought . ....The portions were large ! I had roast beef and a jug of hot gravy , my wife had a bacon ,brie and cranberry, salad & homemade coleslaw and my daughter had the posh finger ciabatta with salad & coleslaw ALL included best homemade CHUNKY CHIPS we have ever seen & eaten ! All of our plates were full and so were we afterwards. Posh fingers were homemade and a good size. The Bacon & brie was plenty full. The Roast beef was succulent & tender & enough gravy to compliment the beef and the outstanding chunky chips . .. We are looking forward to our next visit to try the Sunday lunch . Very attentive staff and a lovely atmosphere. Many thanks to all concerned. With 3 drinks included in the bill for £50 , great value and quality.
Had a lovely lunch today with our friends. Food and service was excellent and would highly recommend. We had steak pie, the pastry is to die for, hot beef and posh fish finger sandwiches. Excellent quality and good portions. We will definitely return.
This place is a rare find this day and age. A pub with it all. Good atmosphere, good beer, good conversation, amazing food, beautiful building and great hosts. It was like being at your best friends place not a pub. Going back again as had such a lovley time. Hope John and Di keep it up. Parking: Plenty of parking at the side of the building
We stayed in the Deluxe Room Hawthorn. This was just exquisite. My daughter & her partner stayed next door, and both rooms were just amazing. The fixtures and fitting and furniture are to a very high standard. Spotlessly clean. Peaceful and comfortable. Great facilities. This is attached to the beautiful pub and the food was divine. We ate Dinner and breakfast. The hosts John and Diane are so welcoming and friendly. The staff cannot do enough to make your stay perfect. The Sunday lunches are just legendary. We cannot recommend highly enough, and we cannot wait to return. A great all round experience. 100 out 100 !!! X
Popped in for Lunch on the bike. Had the posh fish finger sandwich. It was perfect and very posh. Chunky chips, top salad and great ciabatta. A nice stout from the bar good service and a beautiful place. Highly recommended.Food: 5/5

As a repeat customer who has had a few great evening meals we brought our son and family for Sunday lunch and pre wedding dinner and was really disappointed. The room we were sat in was dark and dingy and cramped, certain items of the Sunday lunch were cold or overdone, the wine glasses were dirty, no placemats, just really disappointing. The usual owners weren't there, it was young staff passing hot food over a baby! Really let down by our visit! Won't rush back sadly which is a shame!
