After doing a delivery in york pulled into here for a break. Excellent food and got scraps aswell which you dont get in cambridge. Cant recomend this chippy enough best ive had in ages
Top tier fish and chips!nWe had a large haddock and chips with large peas and it couldnt have been better
Fish & chips shop done right. Efficient friendly happy service by owner and a small team of bright and on the ball local students ? on part time jobs?. Everything near and shipshape. Far better than the Wetherby Whaler which trades on, no, seemingly got exploits the famous name but doesn't come up to scratch on value or quality. Kirkgate every time for us.
Ordered the haddock and peas and it was lovely. They are really generous portions so I skipped the chips this time. Just get one portion of chips if there are two of you! The batter is light and reminded me of proper 'seaside chippy!' Excellent.
Had a couple of meals from Kirkgate Chippy now… not local, but do treat myself to a chippy when tramping in Tad… every item I’ve had has been delicious… went all out this time for the fish and chips. There was not a regular sized fish at the time available but were only too happy to serve me a large, charged at the same price which I really appreciated, they also had a deal for a free pot of mushy peas.nnI’ve been to some good chippys over the years but the fish from Kirkgate is by far the best I’ve had! The batter and fish itself was perfect, normally I love a bit of tartar sauce on the fish but didn’t have any nor was there a need!nnThe service from the staff is always a nice experience, with a warm welcome and a friendly vibe.nnI look to future visits when in the town.
