Only visited the bar downstairs. It was very well presented and had a great number of decorations on the outside. I felt calm and serene. It's location next to the canal is quite refreshing. The staff are polite and helpful. The seating area is good for all kinds of things that require seating. I even took some good photos there.Location: 5/5
We had my mum's wake at the Weir. My mum had lived in Walton near the Thames for most of her life and it seemed appropriate. I am so pleased we chose the Weir, the staff were excellent, very organised and attentive. I was very impressed, buffet was excellent and it made a difficult occasion much easier. So friendly and helpful. Thank you. Kirsti
Size of the room was good. There was a desk but no chairs at all in the room. I was on a business trip so I had to improvise in order to work on my laptop. Breakfast was amazing, freahly cooked and delicious. Staff was very friendly and accommondating. Rooms: Size was good. There was a desk but no chairs. Food & drinks: Breafast was delicious Noteworthy details: Free parking. There is a pub at the hotel as well. Amazing view
Has become our local pub.. for its authenticity, warmth and welcome.. right on the banks of the Thames so summers are just perfect and winters are cosy..Service: 5/5
Friendly and stunning however prcey food. Food a little underwhelming for the price, as you can see our calamari looked anemic and had no crunch but the whitebait was lovely. And they have peroni on draft so always a bonus.Service: 3/5
Nice pub,.friendly service, open fire. Worth a visit if walking along the Thames path.Service: 5/5
The service from the team was excellent. The food was great and the Spanish? possibly, bar manager was superb, really attentive and thoughtful. Unusually good serviceRooms: 4/5
Lovely location, great views. We had dinner here and kids enjoyed playing in the garden and watching the river. Staff were helpful but could do with a bit more finesse and customer service attitude British pubs excel in the interpersonal & warming nature of them. Good was typical pub food and ideal. Also, very odd behaviour from one of the bar staff who seems to enjoy smashing the used bottles into the glass bin behind the bar aggressively. It's incredibly loud whilst we were having a dinner with grandparents who were hard of hearing - but the bar man was consistently smashing glass bottles behind the bar which was distracting and not the most pleasant atmosphere seemed borderline psychotic. The table of guests next to us even raised their eyebrow to the deranged and seemingly unnecessary behavior. Made us all laugh mind you.
We stayed here for one night because we were attending a day festival at Apps Court Farm and it was very close. The pub/hotel itself is gorgeous, right on the river. Lots of charm and a fantastic terrace. The staff could not have been more helpful and lovely. The twin room was excellent, SUCH a comfy bed, great bathroom, lovely all round. Next thing I have to point out was the incredible breakfast which was included. So huge and hearty, we were offered a full English and could make our choices we both had no beans, one of us is veggie. You could easily ask for just eggs and toast, or a bacon sarnie… they had cereals too and gray filter coffee. The only thing to note is, if like us you stay after a day at Apps Court Farm… the walk home is about 25mins and it is down small footpaths and unlit quite dark!. We had battery left on our phones so we used those as torches and survived, but glad we were in a pair because the walk felt a little spooky! Just make sure you know the way / way back. The Weir staff gave us good directions and it was so much better than having to wait in the nightmare Taxi queue from the festival! All in all we booked this for the location alone but we’re delighted with the building, the location, the staff and the breakfast. Much more than we expected! Would love to return.
My partner wanted to revisit her childhood town and take a trip on the Thames. The Weir hotel is beautifully located right next to the River. So ideal for a stroll along the bank on a great pathway. There are many places of interest to see and lots of wildlife. There is a large outside seating area with plenty of room indoors as well. We stayed one night . The room was comfortable and clean. Only two minor complaints. The room was very warm at night even with the windows open. And the loo roll holder fell off the wall and bruised my partner's foot! The friendly, helpful staff more than made up for any minor complaints. If you are looking for five star luxury... this ain't it, but if you are looking for rustic charm right next to the Thames at a fair price this will more than do it.
