Did not expect it to be pretty small - but it does offer a diverse selection of shops with independent shops, gift shops, jewellery shops and so on. At the food cafeteria, there’s a nice selection of what you can have as a meal; burgers, sushi, pizza, seafood and vegan as well. I tried a burger from one of the stalls there and it wasn’t too bad; the meat was a little bit dry but it was okay. The pizza here is pretty good though as it is cooked with wood fire.
We loved it in here, but mostly for the Good Girl food!nIt's a very tired place but you can still see it's former beauty shining through. Sadly though it was leaking and sad looking on the days we visited.nLots of interesting shops and coffee shops, a good place for a mooch.nBut the highlight is the food centre, and more precisely the Good Girl shop where we had a most delicious soup and bread and a beautifully ripe peach! Very yummy and although healthy the food was packed with flavour and a true treat. There are lots of other food shops making Chinese, burgers, fish and chips, cakes etc but we think we hit the jackpot with our choice!
I invite everyone to the part where there are food stands - a large selection. And above all, I recommend the stand with deer hamburgers.
A thriving hall filled with shops and restaurants, though it often becomes a bit too busy for my tastes. The area has served as a shopping arcade since the Victorian age, which is an interesting historical detail that I wish was given more attention. As a Victorian scholar, I was interested in this area for historical value, but that is not really the focus. Even a place like Chelsea market in New York, while extremely bourgeois and consumerist, remains grounded in the former historical value of the place, keeping much of the interior as it appeared in the 19th century, for aesthetic value if nothing else. This place would probably benefit from doing something similar. As is, the history is merely a footnote, and it looks similar to every other nice middle class arcade area I have seen.
What a lovely market now it's been refurbished. So clean light and airy . The toilets are a wonderful addition. The eating areas always look popular and so much choice . Appear to cater for most tastes .
