Such a shame that the attitude of one particular staff member can have such a negative impact on the experience of what could be an amazing pub. Disinterested, and unwelcoming are two words I’d use to describe my experience with the dour looking, older member of staff. It wasn’t just with me, she seemed to take a dislike to anyone that walked into the bar when I passed through. One of the members of staff was amazing however, and actually saved the day for me. His friendliness and great manner was the reason I returned and also bought food. Service, apart from with the Asian gentleman, certainly wasn’t the first priority here. I ended up going to The London Apprentice, a mere 3 minute walk away, and the service there was amazing! Great views and great attitude. Town Wharf has the great views, but not the great attitude however, apart from when the young Asian gentleman was around however. It was nowhere near as busy as the London Apprentice, and to me it’s probably obvious why. Such a shame!
1. For Location 10/10 2. For staff 10/10 3. Food Availability 6/10 - kitchen was closed very early evening , which made us to shift somewhere else ... This can be informed by staff while someone checks in Overall great place for evening drinks with friends and family... Serene surrounding / river Thames / good staff.. We enjoyed thoroughly ...
Lovely setting right by the water. Perfect spot sitting at the deck on a sunny day - except the balustrades around the deck and seats are filled with cob web... surely it just need a quick clean... such a shame for the pub, it really brings the whole experience down. The owners have responded by saying the cobwebs has been cleaned, but that it is by the water so spiders will form the webs...well, it's like saying the kitchen is never gonna be clean because it's in constant use... Let's hope the next customer has a much better experience, because it does have a lot of potential!
Once again this disappoints...went there over lunch yesterday only to be told the chef is off sick until Monday so no food. What a joke... Oh & out of stock of crisps too.... hahaha. Sad but true. Myself, partner & another couple moved on to The London Apprentice & had a lovely meal.
Many a happy Sunday afternoon here on the river terrace, when I lived in the area abt 7 years ago now.. Always a quiet place as off the beaten track. Used to enjoy some organic wheat beer on tap, from memory I thought is was German. I suppose looking at the building now it is a bit Black Forest style with the dark wood so maybe I was mistaken. Good times anyway
This review is based on getting a drink here, not the food. The Town Wharf is a Sam Smith pub so, naturally, has the same well-priced drink selection as you'd come to expect. The position of this one is particularly noteworthy as it's on the Thames, with a really nice seating area outside. Inside, there's a pool table and it's well lit slightly darker than other pubs in the area. On a Saturday afternoon, it also seems to be quite quiet. If you want a drink alongside this part of the Thames, and enjoy the Sam Smith drinks menu, then this would be an excellent choice.
Was quiet when we visited at 2 pm on a Sunday, but possibly because it was the only pub not showing the football! It deserves to be better attended as it's got a glorious riverside situation with lovely new terrace. I love a Sam Smith's pub. Always beautifully appointed and great value drinks!
Magical place with stunning view. We tried just the chicken burger with chips following with few beers and everything was perfect. It's my favourite pub so far and it wasn't my last visit. Love it.
Unbeatable location right on The Thames, literally the decking is directly above the water, except when the tide is out. Fantastic range of lagers all priced according to their strength. Good food too. Decent portions and prices. Still my go-to pub in Isleworth.
This pub has been closed for a while and hopefully opens again soon with new management.the location is fantastic and there is a hidden gem somewhere there. We tried to book a table with a disabled person - but I was told there was no way thay someone who struggles to sit down on a picnic bench would be able to sit at a table outside. When I suggested a table inside, or to move a seat from inside out, I was firmly told that this was not possible. Quite shocking really and no suprise the management vacated shortly after. Hopefully Sam Smiths can find another management team soon.
