Simon and Kelly Hill welcome customers old and new to the new look Tavern page.
We look forward to seeing you soon

Story

We're "old" landlords in a new venture and we're constantly looking at ways to improve this beautiful pub without taking away the tradition - the building itself actually dates back to the doomsday book and still has an original wall.
We have updated the inside décor providing more light and a relaxing atmosphere. We also added an outdoor play area as we're lucky to have 2 fantastic outdoor seating areas.
Our menu has changed and all our desserts are now homemade. Also new for The Tavern is our Sunday carvery which runs from 12-4 with our full menu running all day.
We are focusing on good home cooked food and filling portions and we welcome customers old and new. Click like on our page to keep updated with all the things we have coming up for you

Such a lovely place and delicious food. The prices are affordable, and the food was very tasty. The carvery was delicious. And the portions were good. The atmosphere was great . They are dog friendly, and the service was spot on . Kid-friendliness: Very relax with kids and dogs friendly too.
Great food and well priced. Staff were very friendly and service was very good. We visited on a Saturday and a live band was playing which created a very nice atmosphere! Vegetarian options: There was a veggie/vegan section on the menu and options amongst the rest of the menu. Dietary restrictions: Lots of gluten free options. Parking: The car park was a little small but we were able to find spaces.
Wished we had found the Tavern earlier in the week. We were made to feel very welcome and relaxed as soon as we arrived. A very nice hostesses looked after us, and we had a lovely meal and a drink. Even our little dog was treated to some personal pampering.Food: 5/5
Completely taken aback by this absolutely massive, hidden tavern. You'd blink and miss it coming through Newquay but trust me don't miss it. Whilst it's very much got a locals pub feel about it, the service was incredibly friendly and they were more then happy to answer our 1000 questions. We ordered 2 mixed grills at an okay price. The value is definitely in the portion size. Accompanied by MUST EAT!!! onion rings. The chicken burger comes in the same batter as the onion rings. It was so big at first we cut it open thinking it was fish. Don't worry it wasn't. And the crispy juicy chicken surrounded by the crunchy light batter was fantastic. The only gripe, and it's only a little one, is the peppercorn sauce was a waisted order. Thin and very bland. Only thing that stopped this being a five star review. But please please please, go and try the travel inn. You won't regret it. 2 mixed grills, 1 chicken burger, side of garlic bread and 3 pints of coke £80
It's mine and my partners new favourite place to eat, the food is always amazing. Great portion size and good value. The staff are always friendly and always make sure we are happy with the food. Would definitely recommend.Food: 5/5

Had a beautiful meal here this evening. Nice atmosphere and lovely staff. Plenty of food choices, big portions and we all enjoyed what we had: Tex Mex burger, lasagne x2, child's burger, chips & beans, side of chips.Food: 5/5
Great old local pub hidden away in amongst new housing. Not the first word in terms of style or charm, but the food was excellent and generous, and the staff and locals friendly. Definitely head back there next time I am in Newquay. Better than anything on the main drag.Food: 4/5
A true hidden gem - what I like to call a "proper pub". We visited twice during our holiday in Newquay. The welcome from the staff was very friendly and helpful and the food was brilliant - all home cooked and proper pie - no puff pastry lids here! The second time I had a burger - lovely and moist and the onion rings were to die for.
Great food very freindly staff found this by accident we was struggling to get something to eat as lots of people only taking bookings . The pub is off the main road with lots of parking and nice gardens front and rear . Looked very popular when we arrived and food was great with a large menu avalable along with a Sunday carvery we will definitely be returning . The dishes we orderd was mixed grill and chicken bacon and mushroom tagliatelle off the specials board
