The Taproom

About

The real ale, fine wine, live music and great food pub venue in Batley town centre. The Taproom can also cater for your special event or function, with buffets to order for any time of day or night! Just let us know your requirements!

Story

Having just refurbished the old Wilton Arms, on Commercial Street Batley, The Taproom is a real ale bar with a contemporary feel to the venue. Our Taproom is intimate and intense, and sounds fantastic with great acoustics and we are hoping to be put on the map as one of the biggest little venues in Yorkshire.
We will be providing a wide range of real ales including Yorkshire’s finest and the occasional guest – including Theakston’s Old Peculiar, Timmy Taylor’s Landlord and Ossett’s Yorkshire Blonde, fine wines from independent growers, a selection of London gins, ciders on tap and in bottle, and Murphy’s stout to top it off nicely.

Hoping to be the biggest 'little venue' in Yorkshire, we have free live music most evenings. We have a small stage with a high quality vocal PA and a few lights to set the scene. We appreciate proper music, do not charge on the door, and want to promote real talent, old and new.

Being unveiled in the very near future as part of our lounge bar we introduce ‘Barstow’s Snug’; a homage to all that is great about Batley - perfect for business meetings, family functions or small parties. We want to not only be a great place to visit for music and for a few drinks, but we want to be a part of the Batley community.

We are open Thursdays from 5pm, Friday evenings from 3pm and all weekend from 12pm, so come and join us for a drink or three and enjoy the atmosphere.

This was a gripping pub to visit, with a stone based design taking one back in time! The counter is well presented, staff were friendly and the curtains add to the setting. I enjoyed a cheap pint of Guinness, sitting comfortably at a clean table!Service: 5/5
Traditional Yorkshire pub. It has seats, serves beer and has a fire. Also a telly with sport on it. If you want to chat, chat. If you want to be left alone, don't chat. Good service from an honest, hard-working bunch of people.Service: 4/5
Yeh it was OK a bit bigger then I thoughtService: 5/5
Great atmosphere, took 2 children had 2 small brunches, 1 pizza, 3 cokes & 2 beers £23, bargain for a afternoon out.Food: 5/5
Best pub in Batley with great real ales and wines. Brilliant live music venue. Surroundings are clean & well styled. The chef is excellent! Ask for the garlic breaded chicken....even if not on the menu. It's fantastic!
Good Sunday lunch with family. Staff were accommodating and gave us a larger table when additional unexpected family members arrived. Excellent vegetables. Not at all fancy. Will certainly go again. I'm told that it's better than Wetherspoons round the corner.
Most warm and welcoming pub in town. Great atmosphere, greated with open arms, even my Canadian self, transplanted thousands of miles from anyone i knew, 5 years later I still think fondly about it. I hope it never changes.
Nice warm pub very friendly, staff very sociable and always make you feel more than welcome thatchers cider well kept and served in a proper thatchers glass would advice anyone to call you will be made more than welcome.
What a great pub...everything you could want from a proper pub.... good atmosphere clearly totally years of experience ...great beer and at reasonsble prices ....a no brainer
Rough pub, expect a fight if you look at the wrong person. You need to wipe your feet on the way out. But somehow I find it appealing and will return in the future. I guess I'm rough myself
