Story

The Talbot pub serves a full pub food menu daily until late with a range of specials, light snacks and a children’s menu. We have regular pub quiz nights and real ales available to enjoy a social drink with friends and family. If you fancy a flutter we are situated in Atherton, close to Haydock Racecourse so remember to celebrate your winnings with a great pub meal and a pint of Marston's at the Talbot!

Clean and relaxed environment. The staff were accommodating with regard to my dietary requirements once they understood them. The food was well presented but the mushrooms lacked taste, kind of plastic like. My husband complained that his mixed grill portion was smaller than at other venues. Having said that all 4 of us enjoyed our meal.

Really nice pub, service and food. Not expensive really either, MY friend and I had a really good lunch there the other day and it was really nice and less than £10 for 3 courses (think it was something like £7.95).

The pub has had a recent renovation and is a pleasant place to drink. Unfortunately the food is absolutely terrible. This is the second time we have been back here to give it a chance and I regret my leniency. The mixed grill was over cooked and the chicken was cooked until it was dust. I had the plaice last time and it was bland at best and offensive at worst. The chef here has no idea how to cook and warms all his pre cooked foods up on a grill prior to serving. It speaks volumes that the only real edible food on the plate were the chips and salad. Avoid like the plague.

Newly refurbished so brighter and appears like there's more space. Friendly staff and reasonably priced. Food is good but my pizza was slightly burnt on the edges but as long as they keep an eye on quality of the food being served then it's all good. Nice selection of light and dark ales :)

It's decent. The food took longer than expected to arrive but when it arrived it was decent. Everything is as you would expect.
