Local pub, with traditional pub and restaurant serving up great quality food and fantastic upstairs functions room, the Hay Loft.

Story

The pub’s refurbishment in 2010 exposed many features of the building that had not been seen for many years and created a relaxed, contemporary environment in which to eat and drink.

Our bar prides itself on serving superb local real ales sourced from award winning local breweries, combined with some of the continent's great lagers and stunning wines from Britain and further afield.

The relaxed, contemporary surroundings are the perfect location for a drink with friends & maybe something to eat from our gastro menu.

Cuckfield’s historic courthouse is now the setting for our stunning restaurant. Sit back and watch our highly skilled chefs create modern classics in our open kitchen.

Eat upstairs or downstairs, the choice is yours and the menu is the same. And when the sun is shining, why not sit in our courtyard and watch village life pass by.

We offer locally sourced food and drink accompanied with excellent service and we look forward to seeing you soon.

Just Wow!! First time visiting took our 6 month old puppy. Staff were off the scale amazing! Food totally fabulous, the most incredible Sunday roast and the 2 vegans in our party said their toast was delicious too. Even offered and delivered a Yorkshire pudding to puppy Bruno. Can’t wait to go again, very special place especially lovely waiters.
We chose the Talbot as the venue for our wedding breakfast and reception, and have zero regrets!nFrom the moment we booked we felt valued and heard by the management team. On the day of our wedding Jack, Keegan and the rest of the team made sure every guest was prioritised and looked after, going as far as to try and entertain our grouchy 1 year old so we could eat in peace!nThe food served throughout the day was phenomenal and we’ve had nothing but positive feedback from our guests, the team sourced and offered our signature cocktails, and made sure the bar was perfectly stocked and staffed.nWe can’t thank Jack and his team enough for their efforts to make our wedding day perfect, it could not have gone any better!
Well I honestly don’t know how to verbalise my experience with The Talbot in cuckfield, amazing food, relaxing atmosphere and ambiance, staff were incredibly attentive and friendly.nThe food… we had starters, roast meals and desserts with a bottle of red wine. Well worth every single penny spent at The Talbot, the flavours were spot on and although we couldn’t eat every bite on the plates we enjoyed every mouthful! We were sent off with what we couldn’t eat in a takeaway box without question.nThe atmosphere…. Relaxing, comforting, absolutely nothing was too much. A lovely place to be, to eat, to relax.nThe staff…. The chefs here have incredible knowledge of food, flavours and beautiful dishes that just sang in perfect harmony. The waiting staff knew when to approach us, when we needed anything. I sincerely hope they are all paid their weight in gold because they are worth it and deserve it.nThank you for a lovely experiencenLooking forward to our next visit with gusto!
