We visited this restaurant for dinner. Can’t speak to the hotel itself but the restaurant was a very cozy and welcoming atmosphere. The staff were friendly and the food was great! We ordered the octopus starter, the steak main and a side salad. My steak came out perfect - medium rare. My husband’s was just slightly overcooked. But paired well with the horseradish and pickled onion was perfect. I recommend stopping by for a dinner! Highly recommend making a reservation to be sure you get a table.
I dare to say our best meal in 2 weeks in Scotland! The restaurant decor is lovely and the service and food is top notch. We enjoyed the Orkney Burnside cheese starter and the scallop and pork entrees. We thought the food was outstanding, particularly the scallops. The portions were also very generous. The pork entree included roasted vegetables and potatoes enough for multiple people. If you are looking for a special meal in Orkney, you can not go wrong with the Storehouse.
Didn’t stay here - had dinner only. Had the trout with blackened cucumbers and smoked duck for appetizers. Shared a steak between the two of us. The appetizers were amazing - good flavors and creative. The steak was only okay. Ordered rare, the first one came out medium. Refired cheerfully done and the second was much better - still medium rare, but not worth sending back a second time. Service was top notch. Had to take a star off for the steak. At 33 pounds, it could have been done better. Otherwise a decent meal.
Enjoyed a delicious meal here, with great service and mostly local ingredients. The building has been tastefully converted from a warehouse into a buzzing dining space with rooms. The seafood and meat dishes are high quality and the vegetable mains are imaginative. Despite the town being packed due to an international event, we were able to obtain a table at short notice. We didn't see the rooms, but I would assume they had been given the same attention as the restaurant..
My husband and I had a delightful stay at The Storehouse as part of our honeymoon. The staff were so friendly and kind, the rooms delightful, and the food immaculate. We loved the lighting and windows throughout the space- especially the skylight in the shower!nThe food at breakfast was the best breakfast we had in our 2 week holiday, perfectly cooked to order.nWe also had dinner here and enjoyed the scallops which were my favorite!nEverything about our stay was perfect and if we find ourselves in Kirkwall again, we will be staying at the cozy and wonderful Storehouse.
