As a solo traveler I do not expect the fanciest of rooms, however mine was so small I could not open my bag unless I laid it on the floor. this meant stepping over it constantly.nThe breakfast was very good and the dinner restaurant was really good with enough choices.nThe location was good, walking distance to the shops and dock area
This hotel is right on Kirkwell Harbour, most of the rooms have no views other than the building next to it. This hotel caters to a lot of tour bus groups. The rooms are small and noisy. All the room doors are spring loaded so you’re constantly hearing doors slamming! No effort to close the door quietly. I was awoken several times at six thirtyish in the morning by the bus tour groups rushing for the 7 o’clock breakfast call. And always talking loudly in the hallways. No consideration for others still sleeping or trying to. At 7 o’clock in the morning, there’s 30 people in line to get into the breakfast room and more coming.
Had a 3 night stay here recently and cannot find fault with anything whatsoever.nWonderful location for starters with free car parking.nStaff are really friendly and helpful and the room with a seaview was clean and spacious.nnBreakfast is a buffet style option with quality produce with the black pudding being an absolute standout.nnDid not eat in the restaurant but did use the attached bar area which is surprisingly perhaps reasonably priced.nWould not hesitate for a moment to recommend .
A bit rough especially compared to the pictures. Not sure how this place has an overall rating above 4 stars.nnThe hot water sputtered endlessly in the sink, and the shower turned off randomly. The shower was open, with a stupid glass panel for a door which leaves you shivering in the open. The hand and body soaps provided smelled horrid, I had to go buy bar soap to not gag.nnThe beds were super uncomfortable. We had a room with two twins that was not built to be set up that way; the beds covered the power outlets. The light switch for my bed side lamp was missing. The room had a strong toilet cleaner odor all day every day, but thankfully the window opened. Walls and doors were thin. Overall kind of a dumpy room.nnBreakfast was okay, but they were obviously understaffed. The juices remained empty the entire time we sat there. The staff were kind but flustered.nnI would not stay here again.
Came to do the inter island flights,hotel was extremely clean and well maintained.Plenty of TV channels for people of different preference on what they want to watch.Very well staffed with very nice and funny staff members.If we was to visit the Orkney islands again,we would definitely come back.Some room don't have a great view,but this wasn't an issue.
