The Spitfire

Great pub with restaurant , outside seating and children’s play area. There is also seating and tables upstairs which is nice for staying away from the hubbub. The food is nice, good size meals. It does take sometime to order as it gets busy, it’s very popular. The spitfire also has live music from time to time. Currently under renovation and closed, be lovely to see the changes made.

Lovely pub but misses the soul of being the only pub in kings hill formally west malling airfield. This area has so much history. Would have liked to see more. We always say the spitfire would have been better situated in the control tower. Central point for our community.

Always fabulous service here, every single staff member always go the extra mile to make sure the customers are comfortable and happy, especially Hannah! Food is fantastic, pub and garden are spotless, great for children and babies.

Love it here! Lively and the food is good too. I personally enjoy the burger and chips. Friendly and welcoming staff.

I'm amazed to see such positive reviews on this establishment. The pub thrives on its lunchtime captive business from the local companies and yet the service is possibly the worse I have ever known. Even when empty - service is slow from staff who have an inability to engage with anyone. There is not clear bar lead, manager, supervisor. Basic rules like even acknowledging you have been waiting to be served are ignored. The order in which waiting customers are served is dictated by familiarity. There can be several staff behind the counter and still give slow poor service. As the only pub on Kings Hill, they dont need to try hard - and it shows. Take a lesson in staff and management training with a trip to the Farmhouse in West Malling. Food is not great at the spitfire, just fried fodder.... All in all, just a very poor pub and a discredit to Shepherd Neame. It could be changed so easily if the staff had a strong bar manager and if they actually believed their customers wee paying their wages as opposed to being just inconveniences. There is no pride, interest of passion in any of the staff - and it shines as a beacon of how not to run a pub. As I said, the only reason it gets business is simple because there is no other pub nearby - and that's nothing for anyone to be proud of.
