Tonight the service was a little slow which is not the norm but with very good reason and nevertheless we were given the best quality food and the right amount of attention. Absolutely impressed by the waitress dealing with all tables and patrons on that side of the venue. 6 out of 5 stars for Me Beautiful venue. Pet friendly. Amazing! Super super highly recommend to anyone and everyone making there way throigh Bourne end. Well done!
Whenever I visit Bourne End, I like to take a walk by the river then venture down to the Spade Oak pub. The staff are great, really friendly and the dog by the bar was also very welcoming! Has been recently refurbished and looks great inside and out. Food was good and beer was even better. A great country pub any day of the year.
First experience was amazing. However second time round left me really disappointed. The food was very standard compared to the first, the £4.50 truffle fries had no consistent truffle flavour nor did it have much cheese. Secondly the pizza was quite sloppy and overly greasy for what we were expecting. Not to mention we spent £3 to add onions and mushrooms to the pizza but when we received it there was hardly any toppings and were just thrown in carelessly. Overall very disappointing and not sure if I would rush back for another meal out. I know this place can do good food and give a well serviced dining experience but was a shame to be ignored by staff and have standard food even when the restaurant was empty.
Amazing Amazing Amazing. Michelle, Mark and Spencer all gave incredible service. The cocktails were fab. Atmosphere good. All 3 courses were incredible. I can't recommend more. Can't wait to be back
We visited the Oak restaurant on Saturday. We were pleased to be able to bookmat 3pm after spending the whole day shopping. Service was good, a bit slow only as I guess things were slowind day a bit. My partner has the diablo pizza that had a wonderful ceyst, and I had the vegan bowl that was fine, but a bit dull and felt that it was most cauliflower and watercress. It is located in a beautiful area surrounded by the countryside and I would recommend it if you are nearby.
Outstanding service all round! Overall Sunday Roasts were delicious and we're delivered in a flash! Duo of Beef - Short Rib was outstanding and sirloin was ok. Trio of Roast - Pork was epic especially the crackling. Chicken delicious. Sirloin ok. Trimmings and gravy were on point. Portion sizes were perfect. Merlot was nom I'll definetly be back for Sunday Lunch!
Fantastic meal at the Spade Oak. The atmosphere was perfect for a lunchtime bite to eat. We were a group of 6 who all had different items off the menu and each one of us were delighted with the quality of the meals. Lovely staff to match, very accommodating and welcoming. Will definitely be heading back there for more meals and drinks!
Amazing place in the middle of nowhere great for furry friends too Great food great people working there very helpful
Great experience today at The Spade Oak. Hadn't been before and fancied trying something different. Party of 2 adults and 2 children eating at 12.45 on a Sunday. Restaurant was busy but service from Kelly was fantastic and felt very personal. Considering how busy it was, the food was prompt and correct with the attention to detail, like cutlery for kids, condiments and checking drinks was on point. Establishment added to our "favourites" list and looking forward to trying the rest of the menu. Kid-friendliness: Engaged with my 8 and 5yo really well. Felt very comfortable
Went here Wednesday evening for a celebratory meal, but was left disappointed. I've never sent anything back before, but the cocktails we ordered were so bad, I couldn't drink mine, not to mention we could hear every word the staff then said about us from where we sat. We could also hear the young staff member/s not knowing how to make the drinks in the first place and saw them reading it from a book. When I asked for it to be made again, along with a longer straw turns out they only have short ones, even for long drinks we could hear the manager who introduced himself when we arrived making another and saying it was exactly the same, which he also felt the need to point out when he brought it over. Although still not great, it tasted completely different. My husband decided to grin and bear his as although bad, we couldn’t be bothered after the attitude we’d already received. It also took an age for them to be made, at which point we hadn’t even been asked about our food order. Perhaps train staff first before allowing them to serve certain drinks. Having said that, I was more put off by the manager's attitude and comments, both we could hear from afar and those made directly to us. Upon taking our dessert plates, he proceeded to sarcastically say something along the lines of ‘How was that, or do you want me to take them back as well?’ We weren't the ones in the wrong, so I'm not sure why we were given the rude attitude. We then heard him having bets with the other staff members about if either we would leave a tip or complain about the bill from what we could gather. Manager might also want to drop the sexist charade of handing the wine menu to the woman before announcing he doesn’t know why he’s given it to you but feels it was the right thing to do - he did this to myself as well as the only other couple who came in whilst we were there. The food itself was lovely, but the staff mainly the manager and drinks were off. We were obviously given the offer of 2 for £12 cocktails in the end, but when ordering it was mentioned it was only if they were both the same; this isn't clear on the menu. The whole place also had a very bad smell of urine, possibly due to a leak or flood, but it was overpowering.
