We had a lovely Sunday lunch at The Ferry, a well-worth visit on a day trip from London. The roast is delicious and generous and the fish and chips are top class very crispy batter and you can tell the tartare sauce and mushy peas are home made!. Highly recommend for you to stop here as you can enjoy beautiful views of the river on the outdoor terrace eating area.
We arrived without a lunch booking in the restaurant the Manager Pieter was very accommodating he offered us seating in the bar area and outside on the veranda. What a lovely bunch of people staff were friendly, Sunday roast selectin was good. Patrons were also friendly and atmosphere was great even if it did started to rain. Could become a regular Sunday event.
Nice location for a country walk along the river. Food tasty. Service friendly but busy so sometimes had to prompt or ask for things. Overall enjoyable. Rest rooms could do with a deep clean and maintenance as some locks not functioning! May 22 Returned again for tasty food.We sat outside overlooking the Thames which was lovely. I had roast beef yummy. Service friendly and fast
What a lovely restaurant, food was amazing and the staff very professional whilst still being friendly and fun. Our waitress who I think was called Caitlin couldn’t do enough for us. The manager wouldn’t give me his name for this review as he said it was a team effort. What a lovely manager to have, his ethos is very evident throughout the staff. Well done all I shall definitely be returning. Vegetarian options: Great vegetarian food and choices. Parking: Parking was plentiful.
Had an incredible lunch at the ferry today, extremely friendly staff, and delicious food. Jess was our server but both managers I think giri and Peter if I remember right were very helpful and kind.
Wonderful evening, great food and service as always. Special thanks to Chloe who made our dinner extra lovely along with the chef's of course!
Nice location! A place for food not beer. A disappointing generic set of pumps saved by a good menu.Recommended dishesFish and Chips
The Ferry Cookham sits in great position by the river. From the website I had high expectations which were a little let down by the exterior. The white paint on the clapboarding is cracking/peeling and the logo is a bit faded. I appreciate that times have been tough but it would have been a good opportunity to redecorate this very visible aspect of the building. Inside it's a huge pub with multiple seating areas. The upstairs in particular has river views from several window tables. I should imagine that in summer it gets very busy so advance booking essential. The welcome was friendly and being a bit early for our 12.45pm booking wasn't a problem. We were taken upstairs to the window table I'd requested on their online booking system. This was good as quite often these requests either don't get read, or are ignored. Oddly however the table was laid for three and the placements faced into the room not out towards the river. No big deal and we reorganised easily. Menu was straightfoward for a place of this type, and tta was fine as we only wanted a single course of something quick and light. However it would have been good to have seen a 'special of the day'. Food order, service, and quality was fine and payment process prompt unlike many places despite the touchcard technology. My main suggestion for improvement apart from exterior decoration is the ground floor gents toilet. There are two doors set so close together they're not easy to open. When the pub is full this must be a problem. And once inside it's not that big. I doubt very much I'm the first person to remark on this and lockdown would have been a good opportunity to restructure this area to create a much higher quality facility. If I happened to be in the area I'd book again, but it wouldn't take much to make me really want to.
Great outdoor area overlooking the river, good food and friendly and helpful staff. A friend recommended this pub a while back and finally decided to give it a go when restrictions were lifted. Many options on the food menu for all tastes an a good variety of drinks too. I'm not giving it 5 stars because my steak had severely burnt marks from the grill and they compromised the taste of it.
Walked to the Ferry pub from the CIM. Took about 8 minutes. The service was polite, friendly and accommodating. Dinner was delicious - I had the tempura squid for starters, and the lamb Rump for the main. Excellently situated Pub by the river, with great selection of food and drink.
