New to the area and craved a proper fish and chips for lunch. I found The Sole Plaice via Google Maps and it had a great rating, so I took the plunge. I spoke to Dave who’s really friendly and welcoming, as well as explained that all the food is cooked fresh to order. The fish was fantastic, really flakey and the batter was nice and light. The chips were proper fish and chip shop chip’s which I was craving! Also spoke to a regular who explained that I can get busy in the evening but you can phone ahead ready for collection. I also tried a piece of fried chicken what was great, it had a nice spice to it and wasn’t greasy like some fried chicken can be. This is a gem and definitely worth a visit!
Always very fresh and tasty. Fish is amazing, chips are perfect for my taste. My Daughter loves the chicken burger meal. Food is always very well presented. Polite service by the staff.Food: 5/5
Dave runs a fantastic chip shop . Usually here for Chip shop Chewsdays Tuesday with my youngest daughter. Great shop that also happens to do some fantastic chicken pakora, fried chicken and some curry's. Oh and you can grab deep-fried mars bar or similar

Amazing Fish and Chip shop. Faultless in every way, the fish is exceptional and Dave is the nicest chap you would ever wish to meet. Highly recommend from a person who very rarely gives any reviews.

The best fish and chip shop around, but not only that, they sell the best homemade pakoras and that's not all its the only place I know where I can get battered Mars bars 10/10Food: 5/5

Oh my word how we have missed these fish n chips also the staff in our opinion these are the best fish n chips and today we bought samosa my word we have not been able to get to sole place for 6 years as my husband can’t drive any more but now we have dial a ride to take us at last we are back and it will be regular as long as we can make it it’s so nice now very friendly staff and you have to go a long way to beat this fish chip and curry shop we love it and rate it a million not ten love love it
