I'm not really one to leave reviews, but after our first visit I want everyone to know how lovely the smithy is! we came down yesterday for an afternoon tea, and we could not be happier. the food was plentiful and tasted amazing, the cake selection was wonderful and the staff couldn't have been better. we'll definitely be booking again! also, the decor inside is so lovely, I can't rate the smithy highly enough.
A great find for breakfast/brunch. Not only was the food amazing but the service was prompt and very friendly. We were visiting from Arizona USA and much appreciated the conversation and interest. The two adorable ladies running the bakery were wonderful. We also took several delicious treats to go. We ordered a breakfast sandwich, Scottish breakfast including Hagas 1st time eating, and biscoff pancakes. The tea and hot cocoa were delicious too!
Great food, accommodating staff and handy off the main roads location. Toilets in a separate annex are not ideal quite cold, not massivelywelcoming. Almost lost a star this for me.....but the below more than made it up We had lovely drinks to kick off with - hot chocolates were divine and looked incredible; the Latte coffee tasted superb and a nice big mug of it too My fish and chips was lovely and fresh, the burger was as substantial as it was tasty home made burger patty. The cheese & ham sandwich was lovely too. A naughty massive bowl of dirty chips with cajun chicken and jalapeños topped off the feast ! If your a cake / sweet treat fan your going to be well catered for too..... Enjoy !
Nice wee place. Staff were friendly and service was decent. I only had a strawberry tart and a hot chocolate but were both really good. Probably the best hot chocolate I've had in a while. Interior was nice. Also they are dog friendly which is a big plus in my books. I will definitely be back to try something off the lunch menu
Changing my previous 5 star to a 2 star after today's visit. Very disappointed. Same food but very different result. Today's chicken was chewy, had hard bits in it, looked black. Completely different to last times flavoursome marvel. Soup was also quite bland today. Cake was also a bit tasteless. Not sure what's happened, but it was a million miles away from my last rave review Food was very tasty and served quickly for a Saturday. Had the special chicken and mango chilli on ciabatta and it was flavours were exploding out. Toastie came out as asked for, a little lighter. Staff were very nice. Hidden gem
Visited The Smithy today with two of my friends. We were greeted and shown to our table by a lovely cheery lady. We ordered the loaded fries which were absolutely amazing. We finished off with a lovely desert and coffee. The whole experience was lovely and we would certainly recommend. The restaurant is decorated with twinkling lights and chandeliers, all in all a nice place to visit with great food.
We drove pass this place so many times and every time we ve seen many cars in parking. So, we decided to try and we were pleased!
I visited here yesterday. Was lovely. Very busy, which says it all. The girl who served us was very pleasant. Decor was nice and decorated with fairy lights. The food was very tasty and if you like cakes, well, you'll like this place. Service was quick. Poor reviews for here are unjust. What can you complain about a sandwich, toastie or soup. Just fussy folk. Well worth a visit but I'd recommend booking a table to save disappointment. I'll definitely be back.
Very welcoming. At first we were told we couldn't bring our dogs as there were already a few in there. Manager rushed after my husband to tell him it was OK, she hadn't realised one had left. She didn't need to do that as we had decided to stay anyway. Lovely Coffee and pastry, good value, friendly service, nice surroundings, obviously very popular. Wish we didn't live hundreds of miles away.
Nice big car park. Nice inside very friendly staff. Good coffee lovely food and good sized portions. Cakes are expensive but you get a decent sized piece and so bloody yummy. Dangerous for the waist line cause I want to try them all.
