You can't beat this place for location. The outside is glorious on a sunny day and the inside has traditional seaside pub decor; the kind of place you could enjoy quite a few hours at. We visited on 27 April 2022 whilst on holiday and enjoyed the warm sun outside the pub but I was equally tempted by the interesting interior. My wife had the Cod and I had the Sloop Mad Dog burger which I thought was *excellent*! The staff were attentive, friendly, and welcoming. I cannot fault this place and wish I could visit more often. Parking is free but getting there early might be advised, especially in Summer.
Very pleasant staff, very tasty food, nice pot of tea at the Sloop Inn. Spotless toilets. Stunning place, beautiful old harbour, amazing views from the clifftop, and the harbour wall. I'm definitely coming back.
Walked over from Abereiddy to Porthgain on the coastal path. A couple of miles so it's an easy hike and beautiful coastline too. Went on a Sunday and booked beforehand online. Was busy when we arrived for lunch, only a couple of tables free. Mid range on the prices but worth it. Not a vast menu and a few specials too. Just the right amount of choice in my opinion. A very nice meal and drinks after a short hike in windy conditions. Highly recommend.
"An absolute gem of a find today on our trip down west. A beautiful little pub/restaurant with a great menu. The food was amazing and the staff were so friendly" Xz
Traditional pub in a lovely location in Porthgain. Friendly and efficient staff. Outdoor seating for a relaxed meal at any time of day. Good menu and daily specials. I tried the Welsh Glamorgan sausages, they were so so tasty and my husband had steak which was cooked to perfection. Great spot, would definitely go again if in the area. Book in advance during summer months, they are busy!
Beautiful birthday lunch burger. Great conclusion to a morning coastal walk. Mussels and curry of the day were also very tasty.
Had a great lunch here after a costal walk. You order at the bar and they bring everything out to you, the service was quick and friendly and all the food we had was fresh and delicious! Absolutely can't recommend this enough if you want some fresh seafood.
Really enjoyable meal, a variety of vegan and veggie options and the burger was tasty with fast service. Lovely atmosphere and authentic original pub features.
Food to write home about! We arrived late afternoon on a rainy Sunday and amazingly got a walk in table lesson we learned was book!. Lovely atmosphere of nautical holiday fun. Great 90s tracks playing at an acceptable volume. Helpful staff. Great looking menu. We opted for kids Welsh Sausages. Glamorgan sausages. Fish Pie. We each had the best meal of our holiday so far. Lovely creamy mash, perfect veg/salad. It was all great.
Mainly seafood/ grill menu, with a couple of other options. Appears fairly pricy for what it is, but lovely quality and tasty. Generous helpings and more than enough portion size. We had garlic mushroom bruschetta to start, followed by the angry dog burger. The bruschetta was pretty much a meal on its own. Very tasty and good quality. Vegetarian options: Limited veggie options. Parking: Parking is free but always busy. If you've got a van you're better off parking on the verges to save clogging up the main car park. Wheelchair accessibility: Don't think it's at all accessible as steps to all levels. There may be another entrance that is accessible but I've never seen one.
