Lovely well decorated vintage pub with nice, well presented tables and a real fire. The staff were very friendly and helpful. A good choice of ales, wines and spirits. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. I had the Nourish Bowl + chicken for £14.95 and it was fresh with lovely fruity flavours through it. My friend had Fish, Chips & peas for £14.75 and he said it was fabulous. Well worth a visit.
I’ve been here a lot over the years. It’s been a great meeting place for friends and family that travel to meet me from the M25 as I live in Kingston. I met a friend for dinner this week. The restaurant area was filthy, with food squashed into the carpet. I asked to move tables to a cleaner space but was told I couldn’t. It took 1.5 hours for the table and floor to be cleaned. In the time we were there, all the tables remained empty and could have easily moved. I was really embarrassed as I had suggested this venue. We both ordered the sea bream. Not only was it lukewarm, the broccoli was watery, old and inedible. The sauce on the top was indescribable. And we paid £18 for the pleasure. We were both hungry afterwards. No one asked us if the food was ok and we felt like intruders every time we waited at the bar for a drink and then again to pay the bill. The bathroom was something else. The photos have to be seen to be believed. It’s a shame but I will never be returning here.
TLDR: nice Sunday roast, warm decor, good service, and banoffee pie recommended! I rocked up to the place on a Sunday for a Sunday roast and managed to get a table for 2 without any issues. Though I imagine if it was earlier in the afternoon, it may have been busier. The general decor of the place is warm and inviting, with a touch of gastro-pub about it. There is plenty for space for dining/seating inside. In terms of the food, a nice option is the trio roast which had turkey, pork and beef for Sunday lunch. They also offer the more traditional beef, pork etc. The portions were decent sized. The food was well presented and priced similar to other pubs in the area. Absolutely loved the banoffee pie. Simply delicious! The service was really nice and we managed to get our food relatively quickly despite being a Sunday and busy-ish period. Overall, well worth going, especially after walk in the nearby Commons.
Honestly a great little find, we were on the way back from footgolf and found this place. Had the lasagne and it was honestly the best I've ever had. Crispy, deep consistency and glorious bechamel sauce. Cheeky brownie to top it off, 3 courses for £18.99 or 2 for £14.99 you cannot go wrong!
Nice, clean, comfortable environment with and a very tasty Sunday lunch. Very popular so make sure to book.
What an amazing place. Wonderful warm atmosphere. We sat in front of a log fire eating the most delicious meal. Would love to come back. Wish we lived nearer.
Had boxing lunch today with my hubby today and was recommended by some friendly staff, warm cosy atsmophere. Met with friendly staff and christmas decorations and crackers on the table, food was on time hot and super tasty with large portions I couldn't finish ! 3 course meal for 31 quid ! Definitely would go again. Big thank you to the two lovely ladies who served us, one had Christmas , they were very pleasant and complimented on my pink hair :
Great food and service, very reasonably priced too for the quality. Accomodated 11 of us at short notice. The edible flower pot and baked Cheesecake is fantastic, Thank you
Whenever my wife and I feel like going out for pint and a bite to eat we head down to The Shy Horse in Malden Rushett and are always greeted by James and the team with friendliness accompanied with a genuine feeling of being welcomed however long it might be between visits. The food is prepared and presented with the appearance of a high class restaurant and we have always praised them for showing us a really good experience. We intend to keep returning as often as we are able to do so. Thanks James With our very best wishes for a fabulous new year to you all Paul and Caryn xx
