Been drinking here for about 26 year now and seen a lot of people come and go. Some good, some bad. Now that Kerry has the place it is at its best! !

This has been a local for me & many others whom I know for many a year. It is a very historic public house dating from around the 1500's ( 16th Century ) at least, - I am not entirely sure but can be researched and checked out. Apparently the infamous highwayman Dick Turpin has always been reputedly said to have stayed here. I have heard this local legend since around 1980 when I did a school history project on the area. Historically, opposite was an orchard & just up the Farnborough Road is a pretty old Convent School where Princess Eugene of Napoleonic France, was exiled and is buried there. It is a very pretty, quaint pub with original, genuine Tutor style timbers & even through the changes of management throughout the many ( 30-40 ! ) years I've known it, it has always been a friendly, cosy place to go. With 2 bars, a choice of outdoor seating to the front or the side, also adequate parking for their clientele. Lively, fun ( northern / soul funk / motown disco ) music nights on at least 1 or 2 weekend nights a month :)
