Went for dinner with my family a week ago. We ordered the breaded mushrooms and scampi both starters and two steak sandwiches and a portion of fries for shares. Food was good overall, nothing special about it. The steak sandwiches could have been presented better, I felt like everything was dumped on the plate. Fries were a tad oily and needed a few extra minutes to crisp up. Good place to dine in for a basic meal.
Thank you Annemarie and all the wonderful staff and first class service mum and I received. It’s an amazing place to stay. I recommend if using public transportation to get here get the bus timetable. There are a few buses that run on different times. We know for next time. Visit Raymond in the Butchers and say hi from us. Xx
Nice modern room with a shower and smart TV. A bit noisy as there was football on downstairs. The dance hall attached is very nice and big. The Saturday dance starts at 11pm and costs £15, there's no mention of that. Drinks prices very reasonable. Brilliant smoking area.nGood breakfast.
Came for Sunday Carvery on June 9th. Party of 2, we arrived approx 2:25pm. Website states carvery is on 12-3pm so we thought brilliant, perfect time. When we arrived we asked the lady at reception could we have a table for two, we were told to join the queue to the left. So we did. As we were waiting we couldn’t help but notice this was a queue to join the carvery line. So I went back to reception to double check but the lady was gone. I did however spot a waitress and just asked do we not sit first or what way does it work to be given nothing but a rude attitude to say carvery is closing. I advised that we had been there 5/7 mins at this point and where just double checking and she looked at me like I was speaking a foreign language and just said ‘join that queue’ so I did. Got to the top of the carvery to specify what I wanted, to receive nothing but ignorance from both male servers. Not a smile or anything, infact when I asked for three meats the look of disgust I got was astounding. When my gravy was being poured over the plate I was then asked rudely by the same lady who I spoke to previously ‘how many plates’ to which I said two please and I had to pay there and then. Again I found this very very bizzare. I then asked where do I sit and she said oh just anywhere. I’m sorry, but at this point I felt like I was back in school getting school dinners. So my husband and I sit down, and when I say NOONE came and asked us for drinks, was everything okay, do we want a starter, nothing. There was a jug on the table with a drizzle of water in the bottom which we had to share between us. As we where eating the dinner, we couldn’t help but notice others where going up AFTER their dinner to pay for their dinner and drinks. We where sitting down to eat around 2:40ish and I wanted some more gravy and when I got up and asked she said ‘oh your lucky, we’re just about to take it all away’. The carvery is supposed to be on to 3pm?! Honestly I can’t even believe what happened we left speechless and honestly gob smacked as my husband wanted a starter and a pint, I would have liked a desert but service was non existent and we had to figure it all out for ourselves. We left very disappointed no later than 2:55pm and all food was gone. We drove 30 mins as it has been well reviewed but honestly, I will not be back. Just unbelievable
The Caesar salad tasted very good to us. The beer was also very good
