Stopped here today passing by on the off chance of availability and we were very happy to get in for some lunch with my two daughters. The service immediately was so warm and welcoming. The staff strive for excellent customer service. John the waiter was attentive friendly and very professional. The food arrived swiftly and tasted incredible. Good menus with decent variety. Puddings we’re delicious and again no long wait. The prices are so reasonable too! Would love to return. Highly recommended and appreciate the amazing customer service today!
Didn't really enjoy it here, the staff were friendly enough but we had a really long wait for our main meals and no one informed us about any delays and the service was very hit and miss as we didn't get anyone coming to the table for long periods of time, so we didn't get a chance to resolve any issues with our meals such as missing the extra yorkshire, and couldn't get anymore gravy as no one checkedback with us for a while and by the time they did we had pretty much finished our meals. We did ask for desserts after our mains but waited at least another 10 minutes for the menus so we just went to the bar to pay, the server did apologies for forgetting to bring them over. We did have an offer from the newsletter for a free dessert but it did not seem worth the wait. I did speak with the manager and she explained some of the issues where due to other pubs being closed meaning they had more people than they where expecting but as someone who also works in hospitality, there definitely needs to be more information given to tables about delays as we only got told there was a delay when we heard another table next to us complaining about how long there food was taking. The food was good to start with as our starters where nice and served at a good time but we waited around 45 mins at least between our starter and mains, the beef roast was not very good, the beef was very thin and not that nice unfortunately, the potatoes were pretty much boiled potatoes as there was no crispness to any of them except one edge of a smaller one, I wouldn't say the price matches the quality at all. The turkey roast was more generous with portion size of the meat but the rest had the same issues. However, the yorkshires are nice. All in all probably will not be going back and there are many other local places to get a roast, which is a shame as the venue looks really nice.
Such a great dining experience. The staff were all amazing, helpful and friendly, the food was delicious and the atmosphere was very relaxed. The cocktails were great and the pudding was so tasty. Our son loved the crayons and the games and puzzles on the back of his menu. We were already planning our return before we'd even finished our meal. Loved the app and all the offers on it. We'll definitely be back.
So, what’s to do on any Sunday? Stay at home and do nothing is best but if you want to dodge the day-mare of a home cooked Sunday roast, then the Royal Oak is a wise choice. The prices are moderate by 2022 inflationary standard around £50 for 2 including a couple of drinks and the quality about high-average. Keep in mind the three nearest pubs that do a Sunday roast have awful cuts, even if one has a beer garden. Yes, beer garden but including beer tables, beer grass and beer toilet flooring. At least the Royal Oak keeps clean. Parking adequate but careful of the confusing roundabout coming out if you’re three sheets to the wind — and you shouldn’t be driving in that case, should you!
We came here for Sunday roast. Pork belly was good and portions were just right. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Also adequate space for parking. Very relaxed atmosphere. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
Popped in for an unplanned lunch! Lovely atmosphere inside; food very nice; service very good especially John who went above and beyond to ensure every diner in the restaurant were happy with everything. Top marks! Looking forward to returning.
My first time in this restaurant, the starters are fine. My husband and I ordered the beef Wellington as a special, but the pastry was not cooked. The front house John felt very apologetic and tried hard to fix the problem. We ordered another main course and which were fine. John was very nice and tried hard to fix the problem. He gave us some free drinks and john is really good in services and friendly.
Our waiter John was fantastic, he was friendly and patient with my elderly Father 84 who was having his 1st visit to a restaurant in 5 months due to ill health. We asked for extra sauces which he got promptly for us, I couldn't fault him at all. The food was also very good - hot and tasty.
First time visit here. Venue was very nice and cosy. Food was nice. Would have given a 5 star but the wait time to be served was almost an hour due to their not being enough chefs on a Saturday night. The bar and waiting staff were very nice and apologetic for the long wait. John was especially nice to deal with and even came out to the car park after we had forgotten one of our coats inside to bring it to us. Top service!
The Beef Brisket Sandwich was very good, my Dad had an enjoyable steak and my mum Very much enjoyed the Fish finger Sandwich she said the Fish fingers were the best she has had in years but would have been better if they had put tartar sauce in a side pot as they did put a large amount in. Staff very friendly and helpful will definitely look to eat here again soon. Christmas pudding with Brandy sauce worth going in fo on it own as is the small crumble and coffee
