All I can say is go! Really cool, with lots of fun and interactive exhibits about submarines. Very family friendly, but as an adult I loved it too. The crowning glory is definitely the huge ex-navy submarine perched above the dock, visible for miles in all directions. The tour was great, the speakers inside were very knowledgeable ex-servicemen, and it was fantastic being able to work our way through that monolith of a vehicle. I'd strongly recommend a trip!

Absolutely incredible. Our guide was superb, having served in the sub for 2 years back in the sixties. He provided us with lots of interesting facts and anecdotes. I have lived in Portsmouth for 20 years and this was my first visit. Shame on me! It was fascinating and I thoroughly recommend it. A must!

Superb selection of maritime related visitor attractions. Get the all in attractions ticket for the best value but you will need at least 2 days if you want to do justice to all the things that there are to see. Beware that some things close earlier than the closing time of the whole site so plan what you want to do carefully.

A fantastic museum which allows to you to truly see what life was and still is like on a submarine. Very well preserved and maintained main submarine exhibit which you are guided through only by ex-submariners. Some of which actually served on the submarine you walk through. So any questions you have are answered with brutal honesty and with real first hand experience. The remainder of the museum has some fascinating exhibits as well as a midget submarine and Holland class submarine. Both of these you can physically explore. The children's exploration section could do with some repairs and updating. All in all a top class museum which you can actually interact with and doesn't take forever to get round. Allow two hours to see everything. Extra time allows you to delve deeper. Sorry had to get a pun in there somewhere! :-)

So interesting to visit the submarines and understand a little how submariners live. The tour of the big sub is a must where you'll meet volunteer retired submariners. But a season pass which covers the historic dockyard and explosives museum. This allows you to access all year, take boat trips and a variety of other perks. Not much more than a day pass. Great place for kids
