I didn't have time to visit the museum.nWe only had time to enjoy the tea room.nA very friendly lady worked there, the decaf latte with oat milk was delicious. The raspberry flapjack was nice too.nThe atmosphere of the tea room was lovely. Outside seating available in good weather & dog friendly.
Nice to see some bangers and systems from my RN era. Nice cafe round the back over looking the harbour. Selection of pastries and drinks, plus a few benches outside.
Very interesting museum seeing all the missiles! Great layout, one way system to follow to see everything. Staff were friendly too was part of our explorers ticket.
It has such a wide mix of exhibits which are presented well. I love the fact there's a lot of personal stories from former ordnance workers. Great views of Portsmouth Harbour and HMNB Portsmouth from the nearby shoreline. If you fancy a drink the Powder Monkey Brewery tap room is on the same site. If you come across on the Gosport ferry, as I did, it's a pleasant 20 min walk. The best ticket deal is the ultimate ticket giving access to all parts of the Royal Navy museum for one year.
Great place to visit. People may skip this on a visit to the Dockyards but this is worth a day all on its own. The history of the buildings are fascinating. The weaponry is impressive but the stories of the people who worked there are the most poignant. The Night Hunters is the the star of the show....they were absolute heros. The cafe is lovely, and yes ....where else do you get a brilliant brewery and 'taproom' thrown in for free....the Powder Monkey brewery is great.
