Went out with a larger group of friends to the restaurant within the hotel. Food was stunning very well prepared and beautifully presented. Husband ordered the steak which often we find it's hard to find places that do them well but here they did not dissapoint! Perfectly medium rare, very tender and seasoned well. Got a great deal for the galantines promotion they offered, so although the menu was on the slightly pricier side there were brilliant options presented in the 3 course deal so none of us felt like we were loosing out on choosing the set menus for the deal. Cocktails were lovely well balanced, not diluted like some places end up doing and the beers on tap were poured nicely. Staff was very welcoming and attentive through out the evening, only issue was when we waited for 30 minutes after the meal to have someone give us a bill or even ask about it we had to go ourselves to look for someone and couldn't find anyone apart from a lovely lady in reception who wasn't sure how to work splitting the bill. It was 12 people worth of food and drinks so you can imagine it was a hefty bill, eventually one of our friends paid in full and we gave her whatever we owed but it was the fact that the poor woman wasn't sure how or if it could be done and was alone to deal with it.
The one thing that sets this hotel apart from everywhere else we've stayed in Ireland is it's staff. Right from the moment we walked through the front door. The ladies on reception were so incredibly friendly and helpful. Absolutely great laugh too. The young bar lady was so polite but also so fun and friendly. All the staff inside the restaurant for the carvery were just a credit to themselves and the hotel. I really can't compliment them enough. Thank you for our lovely Christmas stay. My son My wife and me and a great great time. Thank you everyone.
Had my daughter and son in law’s wedding on Thursday 19/2/26 from the start of visiting “weeks before” The Royal Hotel to leaving lunch time on Friday everything was perfection…nThe wedding prep, Tanya you helped Keilie so much along the way, letting her know off everything she had to do and bring to the hotel, and with 3 small wee ones it was a lot lol,nThe reception, your attentiveness was 110% from decorating to dining, we didn’t have to ask for 1 thing you seemed to able to read people’s minds you seen the situation and you where there asking if we needed whatever it was..nThe dining, we had A carvery and honestly I can’t say enough words to describe how delicious it was everything hot and served with such pleasantness..nThe Evening Reception was lead by DJ Woody an excellent entertainer Woody reads the crowd with ease and plays for everyone he knows his stuff so well… A lovely fella I’ve known a long timenEvening Buffet, Once again delicious and so much food you even packed up trays and passed around the guests to take home, those wee extra bits shone through…nBedrooms, clean, bedding was fresh and inviting and well needed..nBreakfast was delicious aswell even if some couldn’t eat much lol food hot and nothing to much to ask for if needed…nEverything cleared up and all packed and ready for us to take homenThe whole experience was made so easy all staff so friendly and helpful and once again Manager Tanya an amazing professional person x
Booked a table for 14 guests for an afternoon tea to celebrate a birthday. Communication via email was fantastic- replied straight away to every one of my queries.nThe table was beautifully decorated with balloons and every single member of staff we encountered were so helpful and friendly.nThe festive afternoon tea included a cup of vegetable soup with wheaten bread, a variety of sandwiches that had obviously just been made as they were so soft, buns, scones cream, jam & butter came separately so you could add what you liked , apple pie, mince pies, shortbread, traybakes, brownies, millionaires shortbread...nThe kids version was great, again lots of it and all fresh Sausages, chips, sandwiches, scone, snowball, strawberry & marshmallow skewer, shortbread, sweets and a jug of juicenTea/coffee/milky coffee/juice was refilled as many times as we wanted.nThere was so much food per person that everyone ended up taking home boxes of it!nExtremely good value for money, high quality food and great service.nHighly recommend!
Thought I'd pop into this place for lunch today Big Mistake .... ordered Cod & chips £11 and Coke £3 .... I found the Cod undercooked , inedible and slid around my plate in its own grease. The accompaniments weren't all that impressive either ! .... Still, as long as the Royal 'Chef' was happy, who cares what a customer thinks .... after all, he's just the one who foots the Bill ! .... So, I left most of this ' meal ' on its plate , paid the bill , with appropriate comment to the receptionist and Departed , promising myself to Never repeat this 'Experience ' Ever Again ' !! .... I think, in future, if I'm feeling peckish, it would be a lot wiser to just go along to a store and buy a sandwich .... That way , I can exactly see upfront what it is I'm Paying for ! !
