Service is awful. You have staff members just standing around, doing nothing. We finished our main and had to wait half an hour before our table was cleared. But we werent the only table, the table next to us were waiting longer for their table to be cleared. Food was of a high standard but the experience was ruined by the lack of service standards. Photo shows staff being idle. Personally I think we should be reimbursed the service charge. Dessert arrives, no cutlery and none for my daughter Waiting so long for cutlery my hot sauce didint melt the chocolate
Lovey experience dining here over the weekend. Clean, vibrant and excellent customer service. Thankyou!
Service was shocking hour for food, if I wanted a drink I had to go to the bar it’s like we were forgotten about tucked away, food was dreadful. Dauphinois Potatoes had no sauce, cauliflower cheese was cold stuffing tasted like dust I don’t think it was cooked. To top it off when we went to pay the bill we could hear the waitress complaining about us. I’m astounded.
Beautiful and welcoming gastro pub for a Sunday lunch with loads of free parking :- We totally enjoyed the Sunday roast trio and fish & chips !! Be prepared to wait for your drinks and food … it’s definitely not the faster service .. took 20mins for cocktails to be made and 1 whole hour before we got our meals after ordering .. lucky food was yummy and good portions.
The food was delicious and we were impressed with the vegan choices. However, the service left much to be desired. We were seated promptly when we arrived. Our drinks order was taken not too long after. Our drinks took quite a while to be bought to us despite us being sat adjacent to the bar. Our food was delivered a short while after ordering which was great. Once we had finished it too an age for our plates to be cleared and then another long wait to order desserts. When our desserts came out we weren't given any cutlery. I managed to catch the attention of the waitress that had given them to us she was already wiping down another table and she pracitcally threw 2 spoons at us one of the was a teaspoon and no forks. I had to chase my dessert around the plate with just a spoon and eventually used my fingers to scoop it onto the spoon to eat properly. it wasn't worth trying to get anyone to get me one as they were busy chatting and wiping down empty tables. We had to ask someone behind the bar for the bill but no one came to take our payment. We ended up paying with cash so we could leave and had to take that to the bar ourselves to avoid it being taken from the table by anyone else. The food was truly lovely but the service let the whole experience down. I would be reluctant to return purely because of the waiting staff.
6 of us enjoyed the friendly welcome and tasty food at the Red Lion yesterday late afternoon. Lovely table preparation, food nicely served and 6 meals enjoyed in the cool restaurant. First we sat in front garden but tobacco smoke and noise of passing traffic put us off eating outside. I suggest that swapping that peaceful car park behind the pub with the relaxing front outside tables and separate the smoking/non-smoking tables as my constructive feedback to the owners. Good luck.
Friendly, efficient service. Lovely food. Portion size was good I wasn't over full, but I wouldn't have minded an extra roast potato! Cauliflower cheese was terrific, and the beef was amongst the tastiest and tenderest I've had.
I ve never been disappointed and pleased about a meal at the same time. My wife ordered a dirty burger. It was really disappointing, I was pleased that I didn’t order it. Lashings of cheese, non existent, burnt bacon. It’s reassuring that the waiting staff agreed with my critique of the burger meal
Incredibly disappointing. The restaurant area was barely half full, yet we were kept waiting to be seated, waited twenty minutes after being seated to be served, which only happened after we asked, and another 45 minutes for food to arrive after. When it arrived, the "lashings of cheese" promised on the burger turned out to be a watery cheese sauce, the Yorkshire puddings on the roast were overdone and dry, various parts of the roast were already cold, and the plates had not been warmed, so the food that was warm cooled incredibly quickly. A side of roasted cauliflower cheese that was ordered had to be asked about to be delivered, and when it was fetched, was the same watery cheese and was cold - the first time I have ever sent part of any meal back to the kitchen. After a great Sunday roast a few years ago, we were looking forward to returning after a day out, and unfortunately this experience has ensured we will never visit again.
Went for a Christmas Lunch with colleagues! Food was very good. The warm brownie and IceCream was perfect and the Mushroom Wellington was well made. I personally found the sugar ball in the snowball mash to be my least favourite part but it had a rum raisin stuffing which was yummy and breaking the snowball was fun! Loved this cozy pub and we were placed right near the fire place and the Christmas tree. Added bonus to the Christmas spirit
