The meal was good, and the service was good as well at the beginning, but when we finished eating and wanted to ask the bill, the watiers kept rushing in and out. When we finally had a chance to talk to the waiter, she only took some plates and didn’t come again. Later, we kept watching her, and she explained to us that she would make some coffee first and after that she would come. We waited for 20 minutes, and saw that other waiters even kept asking other tables if they needed to order or what services they needed, but they never looked at our table once. Other tables asked for the bill and they could get immediately. I'm really sorry to say this, we got so much worse service than other tables because we're just tourists not regular customers ? I can understand that there are a lot of customers and looked very busy today, but when I asked for the bill for the third time, I had already informed that this is the third time I’ve asked .I found it unbelievable and even ridiculous that the waiters deliberately ignore us . It was the first time who did not give the bill and did not help the customer . In the end, we didn't want to wait any longer and we picked up our backpacks and headed for the door , the waitress saw us and didn't even say sorry about her negligence and asked us to walk in and pay the bill ,the male waiter quickly helped us check out and apologized to us. I had a good impression of this restaurant but was disappointed by the different treatment between the waiters and wondered if we did something wrong that made them not want to serve us.
The Queens is very nice, clean and comfortable and the staff are very helpful and friendly. I have always LOVED the Beet Salad with whipped goat cheese. Today they have a new menu and my favorite salad is gone and in place they now have a Chorizo, baked Brie, Sundried Tomatoes Toasted sesame, on Rocket with a Raspberry Dressing salad. I wanted to like it but the flavors just didn’t work together. I hope they will offer the other again. My Seafood Chowder was good except way too much celery. Thanks again to the nice staff.
Top marks for the atmosphere BUT the rest was disappointing. I hope this feedback is received in the way it is intended to be delivered - that is of someone who cares to have great eateries in and around Dublin. We came in with friends on a sunny Palm Sunday and were fortunate to get a table on the lovely patio overlooking the church. It took a while to get the table cleaned, and even longer to get there round of drinks in. After a while, ended up walking up to the bar to get the pints which also took a while. The saving grace - an awesome selection of drinks, even a couple of draught nonalcoholic options too. Then we ordered our food. Jaysus, that was a letdown. The surprise came in the size of nachos plate see photo, which was a bag if crisps smothered with a melted cheesy dip and decorated with some guac, onions, tomatoes, and chilies. No meat or anything. A €2 dish to make, priced at a lovely €10 on the menu. The rest our food was equally mediocre, including a super runny beetroot infused hummus, which didn’t even taste like one. Again, the saving grace came in by virtue of some wings thank goodness, you can’t really ruin those, or a couple if skewers of grilled chicken. I don’t think we’ll be back. Unless food improves and staff shows that they actually care and can hustle, apart from the lovely location, this place is simply not worth it, for much of anything. We can do better in Dalkey and in Dublin, I’m sure of that.
The Queens is a great pub and serves a good pint. The food looked lovely although we did not eat. The only fault that I might have is that the loud music made conversation difficult. That may well be just my age as others seemed to be having a great timeService: 5/5
Food was amazing in flavour, HOWEVER, 5 euro for a bit of smoked salmon added onto my avocado toast is insanity! Not a huge deal but still a dampener considering nobody had told me I’d be charged a fiver , it’s usually 2.50 for an add on .Food: 4/5
We travelled from england for a boxing competition and was lucky to find this beautiful bar/restaurant. The weather was beautiful so we sat outside at the back. We were so pleased with the guys Ross and Nick who could not do enough to make us feel comfortable and completely accommodating.. we were only going to stay for one but their hospitality had us staying the whole afternoon.. brilliant service Kid-friendliness: We had 3 kids with us and they were made to feel so welcome.
Two hour for 2 courses. We dropped in for Sunday lunch. The atmosphere was nice. The food was okay but not the warmest, when it was eventually served. Course orders were mixed up, not matching what was on the menu. When I enquired about this, I was met with a dismissive attitude. The bell from the kitchen could be heard ringing multiple times out of frustration. The manager/supervisor was clearly out of her depth, being visibly stressed and rude. The front of house is of a poor standard.
Very good atmosphere! nice restaurant for local people. They change their menu from time to time, food are fresh!
Just an awful lunch experience from start to finish. Not overly busy, yet staff so slow to do even the basics. Waitress didn't write order down and as expected, forgot numerous items. Food was appalling, expected so much better from somewhere I had heard good things about. Comped a number of items off the bill after we raised issues, but it doesn't make up for the headless service or money that would have been better spent elsewhere. There are a number of far superior options within a few minutes walk; and use this place for pints on a sunny day.
Great place. Loved everything from start to finish. Food was amazing .Chicken wings with blue cheese also fish and chips was just something else. Very big portions. Loved it and looking forward to coming back.
