Disgusting. Can’t believe there are so many good reviews for this place. Booked a 12.30 table for Sunday lunch. Ordered a Camembert for starter which came out uncooked so had to send back, no drama. Had to wait 45 mins for the roast beef lunch to come out. When it did come out, we were off out seat and out of there immediately. Unfortunately I can’t tell you what it tasted like but, as per the photos, the roast beef was rough. It was gristly, grey and fatty and looked as though it’d been sat there for a fortnight. As for the rest of the roast, pre-frozen Yorkshire pudding, boiled veg and solitary burnt parsnip. This was a rough eating experience. I’d be embarrassed to work here. There’s no fixing a kitchen that churns out food like this. You’ve been warned.
Would not recommend this venue and would definitely not go back. Table was booked that was located right by the door so the cold air constantly came in as people went in and out. Asked to move tables which they accommodated, they removed the dirty crockery from the table but didn’t clean it. We waited ages for our food, having to chase it up, and when it did arrive some members of the group had cold food but were so hungry they ate it anyway. We ordered desserts they all turned up separately and the waffle was hard. By the time the next member of the group got the dessert they ate it alone as the other members had already finished theirs due to the wait. I had ordered a mini dessert with a coffee, when I asked for my coffee I was told I would have to pay for it separately. I explained what I had ordered, I had to show them this on the menu and also showed them my receipt. They then told me that I had been given the wrong dessert, it was a large waffle not a mini one. I was told that they would speak to the manager so I could get my coffee. By this time my group and I had had enough, I told them to forget about it and complained and we just decided to leave. Very very disappointing and would definitely not return.
First round of lunch was cold. Too much black pepper in the carbonara. Reordered & my halloumi was overcooked. Some chips raw. The steak sandwich was more like stewing beef with a vile chutney in an anemic ciabatta. Girls behind the bar were quick to try to process a refund but when they asked their colleague for help he was rude and no apology was offered on behalf of the kitchen. The tall bloke with the squint argued with me about the black pepper and was very unprofessional in general.
Can't fault it, went with my daughter for dinner and a cheeky pint. I had steak pie very nice and finished with apple pie nom nom nom
Booked a table for my birthday treat ,sit anywhere. Had a lovely afternoon Enjoyed our set lunch . When choosing my lunch the birthday had some restrictions to get your bottle of fizz. Slightly dispointed. Well I do think it's your birthday have your choice. Staff was pleasant and explained why. As for booking there would had been no problem.
Very disappointed. Waited for food more when 1.5 hours, food came cold. The girl was understanding and trying her best to fix the situation, so she got as super fast very nice and hot food. But waiting with hungry kids for so long wasn't nice. But thanks for free cocktail and lollipop.
Nice pub, friendly staff, Sunday roast needs work. prawn cocktail just prawns on a plate smothered in cocktail sauce on 2 lettuce leaves, soup was nice but bread was stale. roast came up lukewarm but was edible... £13.99 for 3 courses you can't expect to much. would come back but I would dodge the roast
Lovely boozer! Highly recommended! Victor the manager is so welcoming and friendly, I’ve got 4 allergies: nuts, egg, fish, milk and so understandable and I can say 100% excellent service.
The staff were very friendly and the service was very quick and efficient. Ordered food, it came to our table very quickly and tasted pretty decent. Enjoyed my time here
WAAAAW! what a great experience and delicious food! I ordered the Seabass fillets and the skin was perfectly crisp and the fish well cooked. Chef Connor and Chef Alex are a credit to the business. The manager Viktor was friendly and attended to my needs. Great prices on the drinks. I enjoyed my cocktails which were 2 for £10. I will definitely be back and recommend it to all my friends. Best pub in Essex!
