This is the best place for breakfast. If not London, then Camberwell at a minimum. Easy going and cheap but really good quality and absolutely delicious food. They do great scrambled eggs from £4.50 but I just discovered baked eggs shakshuka down the bottom of the menu for £6.50. And the espresso is really good quality, like by overly judgemental Australian standards. They also have 2-for-1 cocktails after work, 5-7pm. When the cocktails are already only £6, it works out at £3 each. There's plenty of space to sit out the front on a sunny day.
Cosy café with large tables for groups and a bar by the window for singles. Books are available if you want to read while sipping their quality coffees and teas. Oat milk is available but no gluten free baked treats.
Maybe having a bad day me and them both but... I found they place really dirty. Dirty glasses, water bottles, floor... My milk had coffee grounds in it, and my mug was full of bits. Tea tasted good, but if the front of house was anything to go by, I wouldn't eat there. Will give it another go, but I was not at all impressed.
Literally a hidden gem, since one has to leave the main road to find this lovely café on a much quiet corner. Greeted with a smile upon arrival, everything I had here — from a compact but very tempting menu, prices being honest if not actually inexpensive — tasted to smiles. The shortbread latte, one of their own recipes, was smooth, not too sweet, very delicate and so heartwarming on a cold day. The cheddar cheese toast was made incredibly tasty with the addition of pickled onions and mustard mayo and extra mushrooms — a delicious combination, really. The place itself is rather charming, with a homely feel — the shelves of books arranged by spine colors made the ambience the more lovely. Made me instantly connect with the place —a place that deserves more appreciation, and certainly one’s repeated visits.
Homely comforting food, QUALITY ingredients, dog friendly, seating outside and great music. Loved it.
Bad service. Staff incredibly slow and kind of rude / ignored us. Was really quiet and took over 30 minutes to get 4 coffees, made 2, forgot 2, had to remind her then had to remind again as forgot the last one again. Food was tasty yet small and also very slow. seriously concerned as to what the service is like if its busy as it was pretty quiet. As we were leaving another staff member showed up that seemed a bit more with it and smiley, shame she didn't arrive earlier.
Whisk yourself away from the busyness of life in this little, homey coffee shop. There was a little confusion to start as they were listed on a coffee payment app and even advertised it in the shop! but they didn't know how to use it. So I paid using old-fashioned notes and coins instead. The flat white was a touch bitter but otherwise not too bad. I had the baked kale and eggs for brunch. Unfortunately, the chef came and told me that she ran out of parmesan. This turned out to be a key ingredient as it did taste a little bland. It was accompanied with two slices of rather delicious garlic-buttered walnut bread. The eggs were slightly overcooked - a runny yolk would have been a much welcomed effect to the dish, although I did love the crisped kale. I thought the price of £6.50 was reasonable. The hubby's bacon and sarnie didn't have the strong aromas of bacon that one falls head-over-heels for - it certainly wasn't anything special. I loved the second hand furniture some of which is up for sale.
A beautiful little place that completely stands out from anything else in the area. Creative and tasty hot food, friendly, professional and relaxed staff add to the wonderful experience. Will definitely make an effort to visit again. Dog friendly too! Needs a sign post outside to direct people to the cafe. Not a critique, just an idea!
Had a lovely catch up with my mate who recommended this lil cafe. Was very impressed with the chap Russell who was snowed under with a rush of customers that ironically flocked in when it's usually quiet/down time. Still had a smile on his face and still cared if we enjoyed everything. The cheese and bacon toastie really hit the spot!! Yum! Along with the coffee. Will be back again.
I'm not sure how this cafe has any stars. Firstly the staff stand around on their phones instead checking on tables. I had to scrape the crumbs off the table it was so dirty... Glasses were filthy and smelly. Hoping the food make up for it and unfortunately not. The worse toasted cheesy ever tried - I never thought you could get cheesy toast so wrong. Way too much mustard and cheap tasting cheese...the outer parts of the onion used so was inedible. Told waiter it's horrible and paid and left. Hopefully others discover better cafes in the area like Mono.
