Amazing cocktail deals and a good choice of small plates of food! Good ambience too! Friendly staff!
Tasty food with a twist, cod with Jacket Potato instead of chips, other pub favourites that were made really well.
We visited on a Thursday lunchtime and ordered food 10 food ordersfor a birthday. The pub itself is lovely inside and prices very reasonable. The food was also delicious. I've given 4 stars only because the food all ordered together came out in dribs and drabs with the 1st plate arriving approx 20-30 mins before the last. We were not overly fussed as they were clearly understaffed and it was a large order but it would have been nice if they had acknowledged and apologised for the meals coming out at considerable time differences. Overall we had a lovely time and I would definitely return here and would recommend to others. Hopefully the staffing can be sorted soon as previous visits have always been top notch.
Stayed over night in the Purley area for work and wanted to watch the world cup semi finals. Ended up in this pub. Sports viewing was great and they had a big selection of drinks. Will definitely return when stay near again.
Since I have been located at the Pear Tree, as a Door Supervisor for the last couple of months, it has been a pleasure to work there. I Have found all the staff to be polite, friendly & Curtious, and the regulars as well, making the whole ambiance of the place warm & welcoming. The pub has that tradition welcoming atmosphere, that is rear to find these days.l Would certainly recommend trying there for a drink or something to eat. Friday's DJ Is very good, playing old school house, Garage & R&B. Good work all,
Great food and First class service. Used to come here 7 years ago when it was a Baracuda pub; the food is much better and service as well. Apple pie is a must and the sticky toffee pudding is just too tempting. Having it three times a week now!
Staff were lovely. Attentive and friendly. The pub was busy and the male bartender was working hard to try and quickly ensure customers were not waiting long. The female barstaff later joined and was just as friendly and helpful. Food very disappointing. Would not eat here again. A lot of the menu wasn't in stock and what we ordered, pork meatballs, wings and chicken strips were covered in bbq sauce maybe to give them some taste and lukewarm. Consider the wait, definitely wasn't worth it. If we were just hoping to have a few drinks, we would return, for food, we would avoid.
Visited this evening for a catch up with a friend food was very well priced but when food came out the onion bharjis were burnt and rock hard and I had to return my jacket potato as it was frozen in the middle. Staff member wasn't very apologetic lacking good customer service. I shall not be returning again.
Used to eat here fairly frequently. Gave up when food was consistently poor, taking a long time to come out and there was no chef. Decided to give it another go today.....never again. Ordered a mixed grill-no steak. Ordered fish and chips-no fish. Ordered lasagne and husband ordered the gammon. Took quite a while to come out, when it did my husbands onion rings were dried out and overcooked. My lasagne was completely cold. Chips were horrible too. We were refunded for the food but there was no goodwill gesture such as a refund on the drinks we had bought. We left and I had to return to work having not eaten.
Good beer, Great food! Double Cheese-Burger was tasty, served with chip and a pint for approx £10!! Great value! In the absence of a tip, I promised a special mention to the chef…..CJ Colin When I grow up, I wanna cook burgers just like Colin does!
