This is a lovely pub right on the canal. They have plenty of outdoor seating right along the canal and on a few decked areas. The pub is also dog friendly and even sell dog ice creams making it the perfect place to stop off while on a walk. We recently stopped by on a Sunday and had a lovely lunch outside. The lamb and mint baguette was one of the best I’ve had. Would absolutely recommend this place to anyone.
Very nice place in an amazing location right on the canal which is a lovely place to stop if out for a walk or ride, made even better when the sun is shining. Overall a good experience but one thing that held it back on both my visits was the service. Felt as though we had been forgot for a little while once and drinks were slow to come. I haven't visited enough to know if this is normal HIGHLY doubt it Service Atmosphere Sunny Day Quality Price Parking
Good pub on the bank of the Monmouthshire & Brecon canal. Traditional décor, good choice of beers and cider, and good quality pub grub. Choice of indoor and outdoor seating and a play area. The staff were friendly.
So myself and my partner have been stopping off for food a drinks here for over a year now and have not once had a bad meal or pint,, Sunday dinner is very very good, but book ahead, as they sell out fast, and u will not get a table on the day unless it’s outside, although we have sat outside most of the time next to the water that is beautiful, The price of the food is good, so u don’t loos an arm and a leg when ur there, The staff are very good and always very busy but with a smile
Food was amazing, big enough portions, fresh, tasty and will definitely be coming again. Sat on the decking, canal to the side of us, sun on back and beer in hand while the boy played in the park. Great pub and food!
We had a really lovely meal, my steak was cooked perfectly & the homemade chips were delicious! Portion sizes were massive & not stupidly expensive either. Will definitely be returning.
Excellent food as always, Viking gamon was perfection on a plate.
We have recently had food here and it was lovely. The outdoor areas are kept clean and tidy. The play area could do with some sprucing and a good clean. This doesn’t affect the way this is reviewed as we had a lovely time. My only reasoning behind 4 stars as opposed to 5 is the queue for drinks, it would be good to see an outdoor bar instead of queuing 15 mins for a drink.
Chose this pub for my Birthday lunch based on their menu. I'd not been before so we were taking a chance, but we weren't disappointed. For a start the prices were very reasonable but moreover the quality of ingredients was exceptional and the menu catered for everyone's tastes including 2 tots & a vegetarian. I had mashed potato with my meal and it was scrummy I could taste the butter in it. Really happy with the food, look after your Chef is all I can say! Deserts were delicious and the service was great. We all went to the play area after where the tots ran around before a 2 hour journey back to Surrey. As it was my Birthday I was given a Sambuka 'on the house' which was a lovely added extra to what was a very successful get-together and Birthday lunch. There is also plenty of parking I might add and dogs are welcome inside the bar area. My only criticism would be that the pub could do with a bit of a makeover in some bright, cosy colours - decor is a little dark n gloomy, especially on a grey day. Thank you for a lovely experience.
Lovely food, piping hot, catered for gluten free as well. Great staff, very helpful and service was prompt. Highly recommend!
