Started off so well when re opened after closed at The New Inn. As the Open ditch it was initially nice and welcoming everyone was local and nice...then came the rough folk from Martley and Ockeridge... empty glasses smashed up and down the country roads, endless anti social behaviour and police presence. Owner then tried to maximise profits by selling land at the back to develop into houses, when would be best used for car park or beer garden as both are tiny to none existence. Such a shame. I hope one day its good again.
An incredible Sunday lunch. I love it when the chef comes out and asks us if we enjoyed the food. Homemade yorkshires were amazing, cauliflower cheese 10/10. So many fresh vegetables all sourced locally and the beef was just perfect. I really would recommend this place. Lou the head chef was just a joy. The whole experience was fantastic. We will be coming again
Lou’s Sunday roast? Absolute magic. The roast potatoes were crispy little golden miracles, and the homemade Yorkshire puddings could have won awards. My beef was tender, juicy, and packed with flavour—basically everything you want on a Sunday. Bonus points for the generous helping of cauliflower cheese, which could honestly be a meal on its own. The service? Top-notch. Friendly, fast, and just the right level of banter. All in all, a cracking experience at The Open Ditch. Can’t wait to come back and eat myself into another delicious food coma.
Stayed in the apartment above the Open Ditch pub and had food and drinks in the pub. Great welcoming staff and brilliant atmosphere. A brilliant pub to visit if you are in the Shelsy Walsh area.
Lovely little pub, good atmosphere and reasonably priced food and beer.
