I think some of the reviews are a bit unfair. I have eaten at the olive branch 3 times now in big and small groups and all occasions the staff have worked really hard and achieved good services for a busy restaurant. Not to mention the chef. We ate late Sunday the last time and the beef was melt in your mouth which is a rare occurance. As far as the decor I think its OK its a country pub and it should stay that way. If people are wanting modern then there are plenty of bistros dotted around in town centres. I don't think the price is expensive if you have the sunday lunch if you choose the a la carte you expect to pay more. As far as I can see the only negative I agree on is the choice of vegetables on the Sunday lunch. However I am aware of rising costs of food and fuel and staff wages so I guess they need to tighten their belts somewhere. I will be back.
Just came back from The Olive Branch's annual fireworks....and WOW, what a generous and enjoyable experience it was! Not only was the warm soup and stew available absolutely delicious but the professionalism and sheer spectacle of the firework display brought pleasure to our whole family and everyone else there enjoying it... Have been here a few times for special occasions and the staff are always friendly and attentive....but just wanted to say a big THANKYOU for tonight's event. It really was a fantastic evening! *****
The whole experience was fantastic, the service was of a very high standard, friendly and warm. The food was delicious and well presented. I haven't commented Ted on the rooms as we did not stay.Food: 5/5
Since my last visit...they had done an amazing job during lockdown in renovating...both inside, and especially outside...the staff are very welcoming and receptive...the food was to die for, just made me want more, so compliments to the chef, as it was worth every penny...will definitely be returning, again and again, and even though it wasn't as close as I would of wished, the drive out through the Moors was eye opening...well done..."clap clap" Parking: Enough space...however if busy, it may get a little full, but there is still space along the main road at the front.
We went to the olive branch inn for our wedding anniversary. It was absolutely beautiful. The food was amazing, the staff were wonderful and we will definitely be returning. The bed was super comfy, the room had everything you'd expect and the honesty fridge was a really nice tough. We also had breakfast which again was lovely and the bread from the local bakery was absolutely to die for. Our host Charlotte was really lovely, she did everything possible to make our stay great.
Lovely Sunday lunch. Very relaxed pace. We sat outside in their new garden area for a drink before and after. Great place, highly recommend
Lovely food & great friendly service. Would recommend.
Great food in a cosy pub setting. We dined in the bar area after a hard day's work. Very pleasant.
We stayed 2 nights during the Marsden festival. The room was comfy and the breakfasts were good, but it is rather expensive. Please note we didn't use the restaurant in the evening.Food: 4/5
Not cheap, but for beautifully prepared, fresh and tasty, worth the extra. The staff were friendly, knowledge and efficient. Had a lovely evening.
