A beautiful campsite with great facilities, views and friendly staff who are happy and cheerful, with camp fires and wood provided you can feel the PROPER camping experience

This place was EXACTLY what we needed for a three day break from busy London (and sorry it was only three days!). The campsite is in a delightful little field surrounded by gorgeous farmland as far as the eye can see. As it's a relatively small campsite, there's always plenty of space and resources are never too in demand. There are solid pits for fire provided around the field, and most of them were ablaze for the duration of every evening we were there. Bernie, the host, is a total charmer, and took great care of us and his site, paying us regular visits to check we were doing alright, and even bringing his new puppy along one day! Thanks to him, and how he's kept his campsite, the whole place has a beautifully calming atmosphere, and makes for a perfect break from busy city life. We can't wait to go back next year!

Met a few biker friends there for the weekend. Amenities are good and the grounds are well looked after. You have the use of a freezer and there are spare chairs there to use. The owner Bernie and his dog walnut are really helpful and friendly.

Wow. What an amazing campsite Bernie has got set up here. Long weekend with two kids was great, and will definitely be back! Facilities are perfect; just enough to be comfortable (hot showers) but basic enough to feel like you have got away (showers are open to skies). Composting loos, sinks for walking up, freezer, free braziers for open fire cooking. We loved it.

We spent a lovely 3 days at the Old Vicarage, enjoying the stars, honing our fire-making skills, and ambling around the surrounding countryside. Bernie was very friendly and always on hand for a chat, as were others staying at the site. All in all, a perfect campsite. We were sorry to leave and we look forward to our next stay!
