Great place. Thoroughly enjoyed our food - top quality, and some unique elements to the menu. Waiting staff were very good - attentive at the right times, polite and friendly, and good timing between courses. Atmosphere also good - slightly spaced out tables, but definitely a restaurant feel as opposed to a pub.
Highly recommended for Sunday roast. Amazing food all-round. Service was friendly and prompt. Value is decent considering the quality of the dishes. Vibe is classy and comfortable.
Stopped by for breakfast this morning. Opted for the sausage and hash brown brioche bun with caramelised onions and topped off with a beautifully golden Burford egg. It was gorgeous, tasty and just the right amount. A thoroughly good start to the day. Latte was also excellent. Definitely a place to return to sample the evening menu.
Lovely place for a Sunday roast. Service was a little slow but our waitress was friendly and the food was great. Good allergy awareness.
Went to the Old Post Office restaurant for the 2rd Departed anniversary and Birthday celebrations of my brother, a sad and happy family gathering. We went for the 2nd time slot 14.45 by which time they had run out of the Sunday Roast Chicken, Rideye Steaks and Apple and Berry crumble twice baked . Anyway, the food that was ordered was delicious, ample sizes and free vegetables and gravy top ups available. Very pleasant surroundings. Second visit in 4 months, bigger potions of Porchetta and Hugh Yorkshire pudding, excellent service and delicious food. Vegetarian options: 2 members of our family are vegetarians and enjoyed their meals.
Food is good and great selection of drinks. Love that they have a big old wood-fired oven for pizzas. It really makes a difference to the meal and there is always a wonderful woodfire smell outside the venue. Atmosphere is nice inside and perfect for drinks with friends and meals with family. Food selection is good and food was nice.
A favourite restaurant of friends who live locally, took me here for lunch. I had the healthy Nourish bowl and it was delicious. The stone baked pizza my friend had looked very impressive and was gone before I could grab a nibble! Service was friendly and efficient.
We popped in on the 2nd Jan and it was really busy- always a good sign. I hadn’t been here for a couple of years. Despite not having a reservation they managed to get us a table for 2 in the bar area- which was fine for us as it was a casual brunch. We ordered and the server was polite and helpful. When both our food arrived, unfortunately my poached eggs & the mushrooms were actually cold. Shame as my husbands was great. The mushrooms tasted as though they’d been boiled!? I know they hadn’t but they were seriously lacking in flavour- a wee touch of garlics and herbs wouldn’t go a miss. However, this wouldn’t stop me visiting again. They were clearly extremely busy & looked understaffed.
Food was amazing and atmosphere really nice in restaurant. Unfortunately service was slow, we were not checked in on once throughout our meal, had to chase water as not brought out. Just to be checked in on a couple of times if we needed more drinks etc would of be nice. Other than that we had a fabulous evening!
Worst experience in my life! This is the first review I’m writing in my entire life. English is not my first language either so sorry for any mistake in the redaction. I can’t comment about the food because apparently I wasn’t welcome. I went to a day out in Wallingford with my boyfriend and wanted to have lunch at this place. The were not such a thing as a warm welcome. The waitress who received us seemed bother by us. We say hello and asked for a table to what the waitress didn’t greet back and just wave her hand in “come in” sign. My boyfriend ask where we can sit if we can sit anywhere to what she quickly replied yes and left. We found a table and immediately a member of staff come to us to basically “tell us off” she let us know about the need of a booking and that we can’t just come in like that.we explain her that her colleague let us in and didn’t mention anything about booking to what she replied “she might be new so she doesn’t know how it work but you need a booking to have a table” after that she start talking something about the manager but to be honest I totally disconnected with the conversation in disbelief of how someone can work in a restaurant and have such a little if none costumer services skills and effective communication. My boyfriend carry on of asking for the menu and when she was back she just quickly leave them in the table as she was doing it obligated. I’d work as a waitress in the past and I can’t surely say that this girl was really out of line. I understand that we should have book but we are not locals and we just step in the first place we saw and also we asked at the entrance. There were no “reserved” signs at the tables and to be honest the place wasn’t busy. There was poor communication from the first waitress but you just don’t go and says she is new and make costumers feel responsable for it. In any moment of the conversation she apologise for her other colleague of the inconvenience this confusion have caused us. She was so rude and confrontational the whole conversation that I ended up begging my boyfriend to leave because I was feeling absolutely unwelcome and at that point that place took all my appetite away. I can’t get over the fact that the same waitress was serving other tables with a huge smile and talking to other table in great manners. Maybe it was because the other costumer were middle aged white people dress up while me and my boyfriend were wearing comfortable clothes for walking around in a rainy day. Also the fact that she didn’t look at me or speak directly to me in the whole time. Maybe I’m not white enough for her standards? Being the only no white person there and he treated like this while she gave perfect service to other table really doesn’t help in my thinking that she wasn’t happy on serving someone wasn’t as white as her and the rest of the costumers. We then decided to leave and get into “the boat house” that even if it was a pub the costumer service was amazing. With the staff being really friendly. At least that save my appetite and my mood for that day.
